Really loving D.C. rebirth vol. 2 Year One. Where does vol 1 "the lies" fit into the story, as vol2 seems to be the beginning ??
The Lies is a present day story that connects to Year One. The single issues alternated between stories so every odd issue was The Lies and in Vol 1 and the even issues were Year One. The two play off each other very well but aren't required to enjoy them both as standalones.
Finally got chance to watch this on Friday and then spent the weekend catching up with this thread! I was really pleased - it was an enjoyable film and I found it to be so much better than the other DCU films. I also enjoyed it a lot more than some of the more recent Marvel films - probably because my expectations were lower for this after BvS was so disappointing. It was also great because my wife came along. She knows I love comic book / super hero films so will watch one or two each year with me, but they're not her choice of film at all. However, she said she really enjoyed this! There were a few flaws (as there is with the majority of these comic book films) but I don't go for the best film ever, I go to be entertained. This definitely succeeded where BvS failed. It had colour, a good story and in Wonder Woman it had character.
Gal Gadot Got Paid Shockingly Little for "Wonder Woman" Wild that 300 k is considered not a lot of money but I realize it's in comparison
Isn't that how that works though? Now that she has a hit under her belt, she will start getting bigger contracts. Before this she wasn't in good movie except F&F and wasn't a leading lady.
Damn, there I go again commenting based off the headline. There is a difference though. Leading up to MOS Henry was the lead in a blockbuster, was in a popular series and was in the Hollywood eye for awhile, being the 2nd runner up for James Bond and was also 2nd runner up for Superman in Superman Returns. I still don't think that justifies more than a $13 mil difference though lol
I think it makes sense for what has been done so far. After the success of Wonder Woman, that rate should now be increasing.
Cavil had three more film credits when cast as Superman than Gadot did when she was cast. Evans got $300k for the first movie alone, which was before the superhero craze hit. Gadot was cast on a three movie deal during the peak of the Superhero craze and to play one of the most iconic Superheroes ever. Come on, guys lol.
I thought the highest was Kung Fu Panda 2, not Mamma Mia? EDIT: My bad, didn't see the "live-action" bit.
The highest grossing female directed film is Frozen with like $1.3 billion. I don't think WW will top that haha
Made $25 million in its fourth weekend. Tied with Cars 3, which is in its second weekend. Still made more than 50% Transformers opening weekend. CRAZY. It also passed BVS in domestic $. Really incredible stuff.
Just got out of this. Very enjoyable film. Gadot was fantastic. I think the only part I didn't like was the heavy CGI big bad fight at the end. The earlier action scenes were great, but the last fight felt like it was directed by Synder. Maybe it was the darker lighting, but it took me out of it just a little. The first 10 minutes were a little too heavy on exposition, but that's not uncommon for an origin story. Gadot and Pine had great chemistry, kind of sad that we won't see them on screen together anymore. But Pine's character had a fitting end. Gadot was fantastic as a fish out of water. And damn, that fight scene on the island was awesome. I didn't think that would be topped, but then the trench battle came and it was even better.
This was a great movie, I was pleased! You earthlings may be weak, but at least you can make good entertainment!
