When you have to find a way to double down on praising Suicide Squad in anyway ... you’re not in a good place.
I'm not praising SS. It was somehow worse than BvS which I thought wasn't possible. The make up on Killer Croc was good though. You just hate Doctor Strange (film) so what you say about it doesn't hold much weight for me.
Also, no it wasn’t. Nah, I have a problem with using a nomination as though it’s the end all of what is “good” in film. A nomination for visual effects doesn’t end the argument about the effects. They can be nominated and still be pretty piss poor. They were. The matting and lighting was haphazard. And the cape looked like playdough. I mean, I could say the same thing: "You just like Doctor Strange so what you say about it doesn't hold much weight for me.”
I thought the visual effects for Doctor Strange were great so where does this conversation go from here? It's not even an argument unless you think you saying it doesn't deserve the nomination is somehow going to change my mind on liking the effects for the film.
If you want to think they were great that's fine. But it honestly isn't a subjective thing. You can look at the technical side of things, compare to other similar special effects and see that, they really aren't good. You can like Dr. Strange, but I'm sorry the special effects were objectively bad
Claiming your opinion of Doctor Strange having bad visuals as objective.....riiiiight. There is no point in even continuing to talk about this matter because it's comical at this point. You keep believing it's objective all you want while I enjoy the great visual effects I see within the film.
Like 'um all you want, but that’s not gonna make the matting any better. If you think they’re great, then I think you don’t know what you’re talking about. Not much else for me to say at that point ... pointing out the lighting, shading, and matting flaws isn’t an argument about “liking” or “enjoying” ... it’s about the CG flaws itself.
I saw Doctor Strange with one of the rotoscopers at a very well known visual studio ... I’m sorry, the idea that great visual effects are just subjective is wrong and does a massive disservice to the artists. There’s good technique, sloppy technique, and when it’s rushed or poorly rendered ... it matters. Meh. Like it all you want, but it’s still very sloppy in many places and it’s worth being honest about that.
The scenes you don’t even know are CG. Recently? Gone Girl, Mad Max, Kubo and the Two Strings come to mind.
I didn't know you studied that sort of stuff, that's cool. I begin the film and tv production program at my university this Fall so I'm looking forward to learning more about FX.
Finally saw this last night, and it was great. Really enjoyed this, and it's easily one of my favorite comic book movies. I hope DC goes more in this direction in the future, because they really nailed this.
FINALLY saw this. Really loved it, but holy Shit was ares woefully miscast. Also the closing credits song should have been "I believe in a thing called love" by The Darkness.
