Me and my partner couldn't get into an outside screening of the game after queueing for two hours in the sun and I now have heat rash and England are losing. Not the funnest day haha.
Nearly identical to the handball not called in United-Tottenham yesterday, imo. But this looks more intentionally that she’s moving her hand to it
Bronze has been really poor. 1-0 down and she goes hero ball, shooting from 40 yards out when in a good attacking position. So selfish
You can make it clearer for fans without turning it into WWE. Imagine if Mike Dean had had the power to be heard over stadium speakers.
Some very questionable officiating in this game, for both sides. Fouls given, fouls not given, clear offsides and corners missed
If you’re not paying close attention, at least half of this England team look copy-pasted of each other.
Sorry to my English buddies. Been exactly in this place before. It sucks. Hope this gives the Spanish women much more leverage in their labor disputes with the coach/federation.
Spain were the better team throughout the game and deserve the win. England got it wrong tactically in the first half and were playing catch up after that. One moment of madness decides the game, it's how it is sometimes.
It was really all over the shop, particularly around yellow cards. I've not seen any other live games and was wondering if they're using a slightly different standard to what I'm used to, based on the most recent men's WC and the prem. I think most of the bookings were strange (that England one for not even touching the Spanish player was a real worldie) and a couple of times, Spain did the really cyncial block or pull back to stop an England attack and that nearly always gets booked in the men's game now. Also thought the VAR penalty call was very frustrating. In that category of either make the judegement that it's a serious miss by the ref or leave the onfield decision alone. Having spent 5 minutes in VAR towers, they then had a conference with the ref pitch side too. Just tiresome. Was a good game to watch. I can't come at this with any experience of this tournament, but Spain look technically miles clear of England. Their pressing and closing down in triplet was absolutely spot on. England were profligate in front of goal, which you can't afford if you're going to play on the counter/with low possession. Earps was having an absolutely barn storming game in goal. We could have been 3 or 4 down by half time if she'd not been so imperious.
Officiating in the women’s’ game is such a consistent problem and I’m not sure it’s really getting any better. It’s frustrating and I’m glad so many coaches and players are being more vocal about it. In the NWSL, games are constantly decided by bullshit officiating
Wow. You have to feel for her. What should be one of the best days of her life will forever be one of the worst.
