I've watched a few in the past when they're on ESPN, but I've not seen one since the final last season.
NWSL games are live streamed for free on the NWSLSoccer YouTube channel. The league has been so much fun to watch. No one team has been completely dominant. Almost every team has been a blast to watch and every game has been exciting
The Portland-Chicago game last night was so fun. JJ got wrecked though and I was scared she hurt her neck but she ended up being alright.
It's crazy to me that Ali Krieger is fighting for a starting spot on the Olympic roster. Also, Hope Solo is the obvious shoe in for keeper but Naeher and Harris are both having pretty outstanding seasons in the NWSL. At this point it seems Jill Ellis is favoring Naeher for the back-up spot but they're both definitely making it a hard choice strictly based off performance
Because I'm bored, here are my predictions for the Olympic roster! Forwards: Morgan, Press, Dunn, Pugh Mids: Heath, Lloyd, Brian, Horan, O'Reilly, Long Defenders: O'Hara, Johnston, Sauerbrunn, Klingenberg, Krieger, Sonnett Keepers: Solo, Harris Alternates: Naeher, Engen, Rapinoe I really don't think Rapinoe should be on the roster, she's apparently just now starting full contact practice. I'd rather them keep her out instead of risking reinjury, she's really at the low end of recovery time for ACL's. If she isn't an alternate, I think Mewis gets that spot.
Here's the roster. To be honest this is really what I thought it would be but I was hoping I'd be a wrong. Not that I'm disappointed in it, I think it's a great roster, but I'd rather them hold Rapinoe out. Really sad for O'Reilly and Harris. I also was really hoping Sonnett was going to make it so she could get major tournament experience for the next World Cup.
Time for Change - The Official Web Site of Hope Solo | www.hopesolo.com Really important blog by Hope Solo about the current conditions NWSL players face. There was a pretty major situation over the weekend in the Seattle Reign/Western New York Flash game where the field was smaller than league regulation and a player got injured.
Rapinoe isn't playing in tomorrow's game because "it isn't worth it". She hasn't played a game since last year, has had multiple "minor" injuries since returning to camp, and seemingly didn't even participate in training today, yet somehow Jill thinks she deserved a spot over HAO, Mewis, or Sonnett. I'm just going to watch this gif of Tobin being a boss and try not to get anymore frustrated about this situation.
Bummed that I'll be at work during the game so I'll have to watch later. How in the world has Australia not been able to score yet with Canada playing down a person?
I don't think Australia has really looked good today. Sweden looked abysmal, too, in the first match.
