Wolves at the Gate is a Christian metal and post-hardcore band from Cedarville, Ohio, United States. Formed in 2009, they're currently signed to Solid State Records, where the band released three EPs: We Are the Ones (2011), Back to School (2013), and Reprise (2015) and three full-length albums: Captors (2012), VxV (2014), Types & Shadows (2016)
Types and Shadows was realized a few weeks ago and thought I'd make a thread to talk about it or anything else related to the band! Album has definitely grown on me, but the lack of pure heavy bangers as opposed to the last album (Dust to Dust, Wake Up, Return, Wild Heart) is super disappointing. Song writing is still really good, and these guys have always shinned at that. Highlights for me so far are Asleep, Anathema, Fountain, Broken Bones and Grave Digger.
Hello all 5 people in here! They released another new song today. No surprise but it's another jam. This album is going to rule so hard.
Make that 7! Damn not listened to these guys in so long. Need to check out their new album singles and get stoked.
Holy sh*t the new album is incredible! Every song is amazing. This band is one of the most consistent band out there.
I felt like Types and Shadows was a step down overall from VxV, even though there are songs on there I downright love. I'm glad this one seems to be a step in a better direction. Cant wait for this Friday!
Personally I would firmly say that this is their best yet but I would understand if someone would think differently. However to me every song on this album has it's punch, even the slower ones (surprisingly only one or two on the record). They even could perfect the screams and signings further, which I thought would not be possible after Types and Shadows. Really think this is a huge step forward for the band.
That got me pumped. I'm also surprised at the lack of softer songs, Typed and Shadows had a ton of them though so I'm glad. The more I listen to The Cure, the more I'm impressed that a band with this many incredible songs have topped themselves again.
Not a weak track on here! Other than the 4 songs they released early, Face to Face and Response are probably my favorites. Enemy reminded me of Rest from VxV which was fun. Can't wait to give this a lot more spins.
@mattylikesfilms you should give this album a chance, I think you'd like it. At least listen to the opening track!
