never heard this band before. found this to be ok on first listen with a handful of bright spots I liked a lot.

album artwork might be my favorite so far this year.

Apologies to the Queen Mary is one of my all time favorite records and is on the short list for greatest indie rock records of all time imo.

That being said, that work hangs over everything they have done since and none of it comes close. I thought Cry Cry Cry was as close as they’ve come since the highs of At Mount Zoomer....but still not really close tbh.

if an alien fell from outer space and asked what indie rock is, I’d hand them my copy of Apologies to the Queen Mary. 10/10 album

The rest of their stuff (and most of the other projects members are associated with) is great sans Cry Cry Cry, which was the last album before this and is thoroughly just OK to me.

  14. European tour is off and should be rescheduled for later in the year.

I just wanted to bump this and say due to some Twitter discourse today that Apologies to the Queen Mary is not only the greatest 00’s indie rock album, but one of the greatest albums ever committed to tape period. My all time favorite album. “I’ll Believe in Anything” is the greatest indie rock song ever.

If aliens came to earth and asked “what is indie rock” it’s the album I’d give them. Idk if it’s my favorite indie record, but it’s an incredible record that typifies the whole genre to me. A 10/10 classic.
