Is there a reason Pitchfork hasn't reviewed this yet? I only ask because I saw a comment on Twitter saying that Pitchfork "doesn't want you to listen to it" which I thought was weird.
Pretty sure whoever that was on Twitter was joking, p4k reviewed the last two albums and gave them fine to good scores so i don't know why they wouldn't review this one as well. they're probably just dropping the ball as usual.
This… is a very good album. I enjoyed VoL but this just hits you way quicker. So happy to see them get so much praise.
I listened to this in full yesterday and it gave me the same feelings I felt when I first listened to Great Grandpa. Not saying they are similar, but just this new found intrigue and exposure to a band I’ve never heard of before.
i know i just made a post about it but i still cant believe Lipstick On The Glass exists. such an amazing song. its the perfect description of my musical taste
My favorite song changes basically every listen but right now a little moment I’m loving is the “so much, better, when I, ooh” part in Feeling Myself
How Can I Make It Okay and The Beach Pt 2 are probably my favorites but Feeling Myself is very very close.
The vocal melody and rhythm is perfect, yes. My personal favorite right now is Feeling Myself, the huge synth and muffled electronic beat are so good.
Somehow, I think this needs more hype. the way she sings “full moon rising but it’s me who makes myseld mad” is my favorite bit
all the songs are so good but let's take a moment to appreciate the variety and depth of the bass guitar sounds on this record. audible and versatile bass playing...the dream
My vinyl arrived today. It sounds incredible with headphones. This has jumped up to the top of my AOTY.
