I still love it.

Some of the mixing on it drives me nuts the more I listen to it though. Do you hear the brutal autotune? problem toward the end of the bridge of “Spinning” ?

 

Can’t hear it there. I notice it at the start of Ini’s second verse in Moving Boxes but nothing else is coming to mine. One of my favourite things about the album is how sugary sweet and technically “perfect” the leas singer’s voice is, however they got it there

 

Yeah this still really jams.

 

I started listening to Better Weather and wow turns out that’s awesome too

 

I love that album, but Distance EP is their best work though. Take Me Away is a magical track, Godzilla is so simplistic but powerful, London Lights does a lot of things really smart for a pop-punk song, and ultimately the melodies and riffs hold up today better than ever.

 

Thanks for the rec, I love these, especially London Lights. That bridge (outro?) is incredible. They remind me a lot of Mariana’s Trench.

Still love this record. But it’s clearly missing a guitar. They need to either layer up or figure that out somehow because the difference is really dramatic from the last record to this one. Feels kind of empty in a sense? Maybe someone else can describe this better

 

Yeah, the songwriting is succint and poppy, like on Better and Moving Boxes, that it’s easy for me not to notice (or not to care that much) but there are a few cases where a song could benefit from some more sound. Like, I wish there was more happening on the chorus of Icarus. When the lead guitar comes in during the outro, it feels like it’s more closely reaching the power it ought to have

I’m not sure I understand the video, though. They’re just saying that they played a new song for people to let us know that they have new material, and they put the new version of Without Me overtop it as a treat? It’s strange to have a music video where none of the playing lines up with the music

But then why didn’t the song line up with anything they were playing?

 

They wrote a new record in January. Stoked.

 

Wondering if this has been pushed back/delayed/etc. Haven't heard a thing about it since last winter.

Also, this cover they put out a few months back was really surprisingly good

 

I believe they addressed this and kicked a member out of the band but I haven’t followed it very closely.
