supposedly based on the 100th anniversary of disney

Wish centers on Asha, a 17-year-old who sees a darkness in her kingdom that no one else does, so in a moment of desperation, she makes a passioned plea to the stars. The answer to Asha’s wish is an actual star that falls from the sky to help on her journey.

i read that too fast and thought it said "no longer have a theatrical window" which isn't too farfetched for disney at this point

I liked this, but some of the worst dialogue I’ve heard in years. Clunky nonsense stuff.

I liked it. Better than I thought it would be given the mixed reviews

i'm open to the possibility that this is better than the reviews say but i think this one's gonna wait for D+ regardless

This was ok, but felt like a 1st draft. I also really didn’t need all the references to the other Disney films. I think there was a strong enough story there that fits the anniversary without them and they tended to weigh it down more than add.

Took my kids to see this and - oh, wow - my wife and I both kind of thought it was…terrible? If you liked it, great, I’m not trying to rain on anyone’s parade. Know that’s been a point of discussion around this forum lately. This just was not my cup of tea. I was honestly surprised by how bad I thought it was because my kids have had me sit through every Disney movie they can get their hands on repeatedly and I actually don’t mind it all that much because most of what Disney’s released in the last decade has been a solid run of another revival era akin to the 90s. So to market this thing as the anniversary film that celebrates the beginning of all the Disney magic that has come before by literally making it the origin of all of said magic…and this is what they came up with, I just, I don’t know. Half baked at best. Characters are paper thin. Felt more like an extended episode of an afternoon cartoon series on the Disney Channel right down to the forgettable (and occasionally embarrassing) songs that leave much to be desired. I’d get more out of rewatching another episode of Elena of Avalor. They did pull off one thing for me. They managed to make me miss Lin Manuel Miranda. I’ve grown tired of the same style of songwriting over and over, but given the choice between Lin Manuel Miranda and someone attempting to copy Lin Manuel Miranda, I guess I’ll take more Lin Manuel Miranda. Hopefully this is just a misstep because I was really disappointed and shocked that Disney Producers would sit down for a screening of this and okay everything we got here. Feels like a slight, forgettable, early 2000s Disney film and I’m just kind of baffled.

wow this sucked. definitely the worst (and maybe the only outright brick) of the disney revival era. at least chris pine seemed to be having a blast here
