Didnt know there was a thread for this. Season 1 was amazing. Love the blend of humor and drama. Lovd the way its shot and written.

S2 ep 1 made me a little nervous that this concept might not have legs for multiple seasons but its picking up again.

They have to be careful. Dont stretch this out.

I said this before but I think this concept can work for 3 seasons at most...and then you can move on to another sports story. Canadiens of the 70s, Yankees of the 20s, browns of the 50s, idk any dynasty or sports teams that have enough to fill a multi season dramedy

S2 E2 Plane scene was intense. Season picking up

There's apparently only 7 episodes this season. So only 3 more which is disappointing.

Lame! I hope that doesn't mean doom for the show.

If there's not enough drama to fill the show (which I'm sure there is) then don't do one single NBA season per season. You can fast forward a bit instead of dragging it out.

Theres so much talent involved here. Hate to see it wasted

I've really enjoyed the last few episodes after a slow start. Unfortunately I really don't see this going another season due to ratings.

This season hasn't done much for me but at least they finally did a big fast forward, but super weird how the bulk of the episode ignores them winning the 1982 finals

they also just had two episodes in a row end the exact same way

idk them celebrating a win is a pretty boring, dramatic arc-free way to write an episode. this season is there empire strikes back focusing on the stumbles after the success in s1. it makes sense.

So did they add that final timeline exposition of the two teams at the end of the episode last minute? Because that made it feel like it wasn't going to get another season

Big bummer this got canned. I would imagine with the strikes, we're going to see a lot of abrupt cancellations like this. Networks are going to be more choosey over which shows they see will be worth re-negotiating a deal over when this is all said and done

Yes, they also shot the last scene with Jeannie and Jerry in case of cancelation

Yeah totally sucks. Maybe blame marketing? I never heard of the show until a month ago. Anytime I saw it come up on the hbo feed, I assumed it was just some documentary about the Celtics and Lakers and not a legit show.

The talent involved in this really showed. The acting, the writing, the extra care of making this a lot of fun and interesting...ahh too bad.

I really thought this could become a franchise and they could do other sports and teams.

This has been an issue for a long time but God damn you would think this shit would've stopped with streaming. I fucking hate getting invested in shows because they alwayyyyys get csncelled. Luckily we know the ending haha but I wanted to see how they dealt with the end of the dynasty and of course Magics AIDS thing.

I wonder if this season was originally supposed to be longer and go to the '87 finals. That would've made more sense as an end point.

eh the word was out pretty big time about this show, ads everywhere, tons of interviews w/s1 (obviously can't do anything during the strike), big stars promoting it etc.

i think the negative reviews this season and lack of any awards consideration (whihc is huge for HBO) is what did it in

This show ain't cheap to make and I bet the lack of awards attention was a big factor for HBO's decision here.

Suffering from success at that network I guess - hard to get serious awards for The Last Of Us, Succession, The White Lotus, House of the Dragon AND Winning Time in the same exact awards season
