This is like...really good.

 

Listening again this morning with fresh ears. I do really, really like this. My only gripe: does anyone else hate how it’s mixed? Not sure exactly what it is, because I don’t have the mixing vocabulary.

 

I'm listening to this now and I really, REALLY adore "Come Home"

It's not really bothering me but I also feel like I can... see why you're not loving it? I can't put my finger on it either

 

Sounds like they spent a lot of money to make it sound cheap

I haven’t heard everything yet but I listened to Grow last night ft Avril and thought it was dope.

 

This album is so dope. Come Home is one of the best rock songs of the year imo

sounds super compressed if that’s the term…doesn’t have enough low end imo

 

Yeah this is all I listened to on repeat today. Album is dope. I cannot get gaslight out of my head

wow i somehow had no idea this was the willow smith lol

 

Oh, I like that. She definitely sounds like she's becoming more and more of a strong, self-assured songwriter. The album itself was bad, but definitely some flashes.

 

Currently listening to it and already impressed by the first couple songs. It's like an interesting blend of sounds I grew up with (angsty/dark tinged alt rock or emo stuff like Finch's Say Hello To Sunshine, Biffy Clyro's math-ier material or even Reuben) and... post-punk revival? The urgent Matt Tong-y drums really give me that feel. I don't know who drummed on this but they're killing it. Willow also has a knack for riffs and melodies.

edit: Oh yeah hover like a GODDESS has big Bloc Party vibes right away. I love it!!
edit (bis): The whole thing is very strong. Probably her most consistent album yet.

 

Need to give this a listen as I really enjoyed her last album.

 

why is the production so terrible on this?

 

I just started really listening to her 2022 record (there's no thread for it) and I am in love with this thing. A really unique take on this whole mainstream pop punk/emo revival movement going on right now. It's also so short, endlessly replayable.
