It will. I’m working with Equal Vision Records which I’m so excited about. Full ep will release in February 2022. Also, I’m officially making a full length with them as well.
I love getting news straight from the artist. Appreciate the update WRK. Adding to my list releases to buy in February with the EP and and I’m really happy to hear a full length will be coming eventually as well. Such nice to hear as I near the end of my Yellowcard/WRK discography run.
Best shot at the lyrics, I have a few questionable words in here (italics) but think this is fairly accurate. I really love the second verse in this one. Where you stay Out on the channel sea White washed skies Are gonna set you free Shadows blue Above a black outline Tell some truth Beyond the words you find Did you ever have a real reflection in the water underneath this bridge? Used to think you had a fair complexion Couldn't hurt too big Everything is heaving up these lessons I never learned before What I wonder when you find your next one Maybe more is more I don't mind We were almost there That first time When you almost cared We quit this I was calling home Telling them You were all I know Long lost days, a rainy winter gone I can't say Im ever right or wrong Who's that there, another hidden face I still care, why do I work this way I will elevate the uninvited So that I can feel a goddamn thing Trouble is there is a broken person You couldn't fix in me So I'll never need to measure this up To anyone I find We were just another empty vessel In the black of night I don't mind We were almost there That first time When you almost cared We quit this I was calling home Telling them You were all I know
Ryan was on the All Punked Up podcast recently and I found it to be an excellent listen: 64. William Ryan Key - The All Punked Up Podcast
Ryan sounds so pumped about where he’s headed with his music. Good for him. In saying that, I’ll check out the EP, but I don’t think I see myself sitting down and listening to scores or trippy edm music. And maybe I’m not the fan he’s after. There something about vocals as an instrument and a method of storytelling that I love. I was wondering if he’d continue to lean in on doing more acoustic EP’s eventually again since that can serve his preferred vocal stylings while protecting his voice from health issues. Sounds like it’s all edm and scoring along with podcasting. I really would love to hear the episode where Ryan dives into the good stuff and bad stuff during Yellowcard. He dances around it out of respect and time, but he seems fully comfortable to address it in terms of learning and growing as a person. I’d love to hear that interview. He really is a good guest on these podcasts.
“A grim hotel, with empty rooms to spare” “I crank the window closed, and you’re not here” the way the “you’re not here” lyric is so perfectly direct amidst an airy somber song is really great songwriting.
The new EP is fantastic! Still trying to decide on a favorite track. I can't wait to download the .mp3 version (I think one came with the CD I purchased, which is in the mail still), but so far no email. Did anyone else receive one? (Offline listening is the bulk of my listening nowadays.)
Pre orders are delayed due to production like so much other stuff in the world right now. They will get to you though I promise. Glad you are enjoying the record!
