I’m confused as to whether these reworked Yellowcard songs are still happening, or if Ryan is going to be focusing on film scoring. Either way doesn’t appear that there will be any new songs in the immediate future.
How many songs are currently available on his Patreon? Not sure I can afford a monthly subscription but I’d like to know if it’s worth it right now to do one month for the songs that are out now.
This has Ryan Key in it, pretty fun so far although idk if he sings in it. *edit* - he does on the 2nd to last song.
Sounds silly, but man is it nice to hear Ryan singing on a rock song again! Sounds great. Also this song is really fun
@williamryankey with twitch going strong, was the re-imagined yc project put on temporary hold/deprioritized?
They just got the masters back, so they are playing them on the stream. I would assume it will be available on streaming services sometime in the not-so-distant future once they're able to put it all together and get it out there.
Is this the stuff WRK did for his Patreon or something new? I didn’t do the Patreon (which he’s now closed) and I got the impression it’d be released through a bandcamp or iTunes, so maybe that’s what this is in November.
Hey friends! It’s been a journey these past couple years getting off the road and building an incredible online community. I’ve decided after trying both Patreon and Twitch that relaunching Patreon with a bit better focus is what’s best for me going forward. I’ll post the message I sent out below. (It’s very long I apologize) If you have a minute to read through it and check out the new tiers at Patreon.com/williamryankey I’d be grateful. If it’s not for you no worries! Thanks for the support.
Friends, Many of you have watched me grow as an artist over the years. From the first days of Yellowcard, to my most recent venture on Twitch, you have been there for me and supported me every step of the way. The events of 2020 and the upheaval of so many industries caused many of us (myself included) to take stock of what we really want out of our life and work. Sometimes we don't know what's actually possible until we try something new. For the last 6 months, I learned what it means to be not just an artist, but a streamer. My original Patreon community followed me to Twitch and supported me in my new venture, cheering me on and believing in me. There were many laughs and tears along the way, as I learned from experience what did and didn't work (the answer to "what didn't work?" is "anything attached to a computer", as my Twitch viewers can tell you). Through trial and error, our community became closer than ever. With my time on Twitch coming to a close (I was limited to a 6 month contract, during which time I was not allowed to livestream from any other platform), I knew I needed to find a way to take the lessons I had learned from my time as a streamer, and try to incorporate them into a new Patreon model so that I could merge the best of both platforms and truly reinvent what was possible for my community and my goals as an artist. More than anything, I knew I wanted to keep making music full time. With that, I am proud to present to you: my new, improved (I hope!) Patreon tiers. I have designed these tiers to allow people to support at the level that feels most financially comfortable for them (the lowest tier is only $3) while being able to participate in many exciting aspects of my work and the community we have built. This time around, we have an official Discord server, and access to exclusive patron-only channels will be one of the perks available to every Patron. As you may have seen from my Instagram story, my social media posts will now be limited to work-related content - so my official Discord server will be one of the only places you'll be able to see regular updates and personal posts from me. My ultimate goal for the new Patreon model is to allow people to truly experience the process of what it's like to create music, as opposed to only viewing the finished product-- which is why (starting at the third patron tier) you will have a window into the studio and be able to watch me while I go about my normal workday. You'll be able to see my screen and follow along with my workflow as I write and create. I’ll be working on film and TV scoring, original songs, and more. Your support via Patreon is crucial in allowing me the ability to keep creating music full time, and by watching me work, you can experience these songs taking shape from start to finish. Those of you who have been with me on Twitch these past few months know that when I am creating, I get “in the zone” and forget to look at chat or interact with supporters in real time. Rather than try to fight my natural creative process (and my need to fully concentrate), I have created tiers with separate monthly Q&A sessions, in addition to exclusive "question" discord channels, to ensure that everyone gets a chance to interact with me, and I don't miss anyone's questions while I am going about my daily work. Also, you won't have to constantly tell me I'm muted (if you know, you know). I feel so grateful to have people who believe in me and my work enough to pledge their support each month. Your support means the world to me, and I could not do any of this without you. I hope you'll join me in this grand new experiment, so we can keep learning and creating together. -WRK
New single 12/14. New EP “Everything Except Desire” out early next year. You can get it early on Patreon
I hope it’s purchasable. Like I said, bandcamp seems like a great place to sample, stream and buy for people as well as streaming sites.
