@oncenowagain Oh yea you’re right!Ive found it and immediately saved it haha!thank you! @williamryankey also yea that’s a bummer but I just wanted to show some love for Underdog EP anyway!haha
Who has the rights/license to the underdog ep? Perhaps we need to launch a letter writing campaign lmao
So (sorry I don’t know how this works) it would ultimately be up to FBR to add it to streaming services? idk if these record companies even listen but it’s frustrating how it all works. Streaming platforms, for better or worse, are here to stay and are many people’s only access to music.
Love it when the artists participate in threads. It’s takes away a lot of that presumptive guessing fans make.
Iam pretty sure the whole ep is on YouTube, but as you said, streaming platforms are where most of the people go first when they find out about the band so it’s bummer there are no full discographies sometimes
Yes and while I have a physical copy of the cd it doesn’t help when I want to play Spotify through my aux cord in my car or play Spotify off my google home or all the situations where it isn’t as accessible I just feel frustrated by the model in general bc I can’t imagine not wanting to make your music (whether “you” are an artist or label) available to more people and also more money lol
I honestly have no clue how it works haha. Two labels same record? My brain hurts. Sorry I can’t be of more assistance. I have it on red vinyl so that’s how I cope.
Just subscribed to the Patreon. My first one ever. New song is pretty good! It’s definitely a different style. I feel like the music is a mixture of some elements of Lift A Sail and WRK vocals.
Really wish labels would allow bands like YC to buy back rights for streaming purposes (at a reasonable cost).
@williamryankey are you in touch with the guys from like Simple Plan or Good Charlotte or similar bands?
Businesses like music labels are, above almost all other things, petty. They'd rather sit on the rights to something and not make any money off of it themselves than sell the rights to someone else and watch them make money off of it instead.
Ok I guess buy back might not be the best phrasing but something like the artist or management reaching out to the rights holder and saying we would like for everything you own to be put on as many streaming platforms as possible so we can both make money.
It's a tough situation because the label might just be lazy and not want to expend the effort, however minimal, to do that. And that's if you can even actually reach the right person you would need to talk to about getting it done. A system where the artists don't own the rights to their own art is very bad for everyone, fans included!
Just came across this on Ryan Mendez's site. At the bottom there's a WRK song that was apparently done as a custom song for someone awhile back.
Hey everyone. Just a quick reminder that my first livestream on Patreon is tomorrow (Friday) night at 8pm EST/5pm PST. Both tiers can come hang. Hope to see you there. patreon.com/williamryankey
