Kind of falls in line with the other press interviews he’s done lately. When he talks about moving and having a bigger recording space I was hoping he’d say “band”, but then says for scoring strings. His band or solo acoustic stuff feels over. Scoring, Jedha EDM and the Star Wars Maker podcast seem to be priority one (he mentioned a secret project).
Two sides to every story I suppose. Perception is reality. I just spoke with Ben on my podcast and he mentions that he reached out to Sean and Ryan’s manager about the re-release, and he didn’t hear back. I don’t know exactly what the timeline was/is. I will say though, that OFTK was a really special record for me. Yellowcard was a special band, and they had something truly unique during that era. Those songs translated extremely well live, and their shows were something to behold. It bums me out to hear Ryan speak of it the way he did in this interview. I get it, we all cringe a bit when we hear our early art. But One For The Kids is still a very important and special album for me and MANY. I got to know these guys early on in their career and it was a really fun time. I’d love to see a day where all the members of YC (throughout their career) can be buds again.
It does suck hearing him reflect on the band with so many negatives. Sounds like he’s trying to ownership and learn from mistakes though. I’ve enjoyed every YC album, but OA to SA are some favourites of mine.
