I wish he'd switch it up a bit with his solo stuff. I feel like everything he's put out so far has been good, but they follow a similar pattern.
Yeah it is all extremely similar sounding and it is very bland/uninteresting to me. Which is sad because I love YC.
Lovely song. Hope he continues down the post rocky path. Wish the vocal was more prominent in spots but I knew after hearing this live how much I’d love it.
This is his best song of the solo catalog so far - easily. I really do wish though (and I said this in the WRK thread) that he would push the vocals up in the mix a bit. It sounds so overly processed and pulled back that the guitar tones almost take over his voice. He has such a strong, noticeable and recognizable voice...I just wish he'd let it fly.
I do get the sense that he's gradually going back down the road toward a rock/post rock path. This song already has much more drum/guitar action that anything he has put out so far.
This one seems to have a more forward melody at least. I agree that his voice should be the focus of these, but the instrumentals in this one are more interesting than some of his other stuff. I say that as a huge YC fan; I want him to have all the success.
Yeah, I think this is the best song that he's released so far. But the vocal layering/mixing really just ruins it for me. He's way too far back in the mix to truly appreciate it
The poem at the end appears to be a version of Alexander Pushkin's most famous poems "I Loved You" I loved you; and perhaps I love you still, The flame, perhaps, is not extinguished; yet It burns so quietly within my soul, No longer should you feel distressed by it. Silently and hopelessly I loved you, At times too jealous and at times too shy. God grant you find another who will love you As tenderly and truthfully as I.
