It doesn't really matter how big they were. If they had devoted fans (and clearly he did), then they don't need to be big by anyone else's measure, they were influential for those girls and that's all he needed to take advantage of the situation. I lasted about a minute on the Facebook comments. Even if you think everything which happened was consensual (and it doesn't sound like it was), I don't know how you can not look at this as a massive abuse of power. Guy is in his late 20s or early 30s and preying on female fans much younger than himself so that he can beat the shit out of them. Even if they agree to it, he's still a landfill of a human.
It’s not that hard to just not make posts like this. Stop being an apologist in every single thread you comment on.
The fact that they weren't as big or popular (I assume idk what their reach is) might have made it easier for him to get away with it. Big enough to have a devoted fanbase and keep touring to abuse more fans, but not big enough to get called out on like a mainstream level scale as quickly to keep doing what he did for so long Then again big artists have gotten away with some awful stuff for a long time so popularity prob doesn't matter when people are being groomed to participate and stay quiet
What's totally mind-boggling is that apologists like you truly believe they're being the good guys by "not picking a side".
a lot of it has to do with the structure of the scene. the relatively early days of online and attraction of younger kids to "emo"/scene genres made it really easy for identifiable band members to become venerated. but, if there's anything we should have learned over the past two years, it's that there are abusers in every social strata that are protected merely on the basis of being male. apparently rumors and bad vibes swirled around this dude for a while.
What?! I NEVER said he wasn't guilty. I said I wasn't surprised about this, meaning I believe that he did stuff. I'm just not going to 100% believe anyone just from their words alone. Not until investigations are over. Doesn't matter who or what the case is, doesn't matter if it's someone I know/respected or someone I've never even heard of before. This is supposed to be a community right? So shouldn't I be allowed to voice my thoughts without getting viciously attacked?
"Words alone" there is an absolutely terrible video in that tumblr. Idk what more someone needs to condemn this guy right away.
Worth stating, this shitbag (William Control) apparently put a 'farewell' thing on twitter which makes it look like a forthcoming album, as well as all accounts online, have been pulled. He knows what he did. I'm glad these women are able to put forth so much evidence and support for one another and hopefully this will further the investigation. It also appears the detective in the case refuted that the case was dropped due to consent. It was in fact just Will's assumption that it was consensual and the case was actually pushed up the ranks
The comments on his last two Facebook posts are the absolute worst. I can't believe one person (let alone hundreds of people) is defending this piece of shit.
1. We all know the court definitely has to find someone guilty of something for it to be true, right? 2. You're not getting "viciously attacked" and you're definitely not a victim.
Glad she has got out. When he talked about "going home to his family", I wondered how she felt about this. I cannot image what she must be going through, finding out your husband is this kind of monster. Obviously she isn't the biggest victim in this situation, but do I think she is one.
This whole thing makes me so uncomfortable. Burn it all down, get rid of these creeps, start the scene over
