Producer Will Yip has announced the opening of Memory Music Studios. The full press release, and photos from the studio, can be found below.

GRAMMY-nominated producer Will Yip has announced the opening of Memory Music Studios, a state of the art recording studio in Philadelphia, PA. Located in South Philadelphia, the 8,000 square foot facility boasts four unique studio spaces including three live rooms, two artist lounges, and one of the largest inventories of guitars, drums, and amplifiers in the world [see images / video tour below]. Having shaped the sound of alternative rock for more than a decade, Memory Music Studios sees Yip reinvesting in his hometown - a city that helped define both his career and the broader indie ecosystem.

Elaborating on the recording studio, Yip noted: “Philadelphia has had one of the biggest indie music communities in the world for a long time. With this new space, I wanted to give artists a reason to stay in Philadelphia, and a reason for other artists to come here. The city deserves that… a place where artists feel special, limitless, and empowered to make the music they’ve always wanted to. I’ve been dreaming of this studio my entire life, taking notes from every studio I’ve ever walked into all over the world. It’s truly one of a kind and I’m grateful I get to finally share it with our community and beyond, nurturing and supporting the next generation of indie and alternative artists.”

Philadelphia has quietly become one of the most influential incubators of indie rock in recent years, producing internationally renowned artists such as Alex G, Japanese Breakfast, Mitski, and The War on Drugs. Yip’s new studio is designed to serve as both a creative sanctuary and a community resource—an intentional space where artists can take risks, develop their sound, and make lasting work without the pressures often associated with the larger commercial studios of New York City and Los Angeles.

The announcement arrives during a landmark year for Yip who is credited for additional production on TURNSTILE’s 5x GRAMMY-nominated new album NEVER ENOUGH, which has emerged as a leading contender this awards season. The recognition underscores Yip’s rare ability to bridge underground credibility with global impact, all while maintaining a hands-on, artist-first approach.
