It really is. Sidenote: The first 5 songs on this album are fucking perfect and flow so effortlessly into each other. I wish all albums started like that.
I think Seance is my least favorite track. It's just kinda there and throws off how good the rest of the album is
My least favorite as well. I do like the back half when it picks up a lot, but I think the first two or so minutes kinda kill the momentum up til that point
The last third of the song is what sells it for me, I like how the instrumentals explode after such a slow burn.
Seance pays off in a live setting (I sound like a broken record but they really are so good live) but I can understand how it doesn't vibe well where it is on the album.
Put this on again, and, man, the little inflections in the vocal delivery make some lines so heartbreaking. "You don't sleep well, and you don't expect to" and "I believe you when you say you've been sad for your whole life/Your body looks impossibly small when you hang your head and cry" ruin me every time I hear them.
one of the more heartbreaking lyrics I think I've heard in a while. that whole song is a masterpiece tbh
I don't know why, but it seems like there's a reason for it all Why some ancient slime crossed a line Now there's a war on all life on Earth also just learned the first line of the song is "passed a fireman" not "theres a fireman"
The title track is the winner for me. Seeing it live really brought out the insane structure of that track.
They're an incredible live band, but when I saw them last summer, opening with "Lake Erie" into "Burger Hill" on their setlist really fucked with me, haha.
this guy loves to talk about phones I'm trying One to three million cells will pass away in a second's time The space is free where I used to be And I catch myself on my phone
Don't really have much use for the Dondadi or Eerie Gates remixes (they're fine, but I don't see myself going out of my way to listen to them), but the two new tracks and the Shy Layers remix are all great.
these sound quite a bit different live than I expected. faster. extremely good tho, the title track is especially lovely
Anyone going to the first date of the Ryley Walker on Monday (in Buffalo)? Thinking about going to the Toronto show on Tuesday to see Wild Pink but I just want an idea of how long their opening set is. E: nvm, Ryley Walker isn’t on that date and WP is headlining so that infos not really relevant. Would still love to hear how long and what they’re playing if anyone goes.
