Yeah this is also one of my fave albums the year, if not my favorite. So excited to see them on Friday, really itching to hear some of these new songs live!
Haha yeah I knew he moved to that area from the A Billion Little Lights live play through they streamed during that albums release. I was driving to the Dutchess county fair a while back and passed a sign for Burger Hill then thought “Ohhhh righhhht!”
I knew that there was some local connection, but I wasn't expecting him to live like 2 miles away from me haha
listened on the drive home tonight, specifically had the guitar tone at the forefront when listening because I had randomly thought of this post and 1) yeah it’s great 2) ‘Cloud or Mountain’ has a tone that is so Pixies and it fucking rocks, more bands should lean into that sound
Listening to Wild Pink on the ride home tonight, thinking about how John has sang about “watching Heat in the evening” and on the new album references ‘Donnie Brasco’ Begs the question / homage to Pacino specifically or just a shout out to gangster movie genre in general? If it’s the former- hoping for a song shouting out Dog Day Afternoon next
I am at the Empty Bottle show in Chicago, a venue in which I have seen this band countless times over the years, and they’ve always just drawn okay crowds but this time the show is sold out and very packed and it’s really cool to see that more people are catching on to this band and how damn good they are.
The show was amazing! The new songs of course sounded fantastic! Definitely catch them if they’re headlining or opening for MJ Lenderman nest you, they are sounding real good right now.
Setlist.fm is showing a lack of Pacific City in the sets, which is a bummer but still excited to see them next week
When I saw them after ILYSM dropped, they only played new songs that would eventually come out on Dulling the Horns. I get the sense they just play what they want live, which is dope, but leads to them not really getting into the earlier stuff.
Yeah, I figured, they are such a strong band, specifically the last 3-4 albums, just feels like they are leaving a lot of meat on the bone as far as awesome setlists
Can’t believe how small the venue was in Philly. They should be playing fuckin stadiums, man anyway, songs sounded huge
Made the mistake of making my albums of the year list before listening to this cause...WOW is this good
