I gotta assume it's mostly a function of the album coming out right before COVID then there already being 2 more albums since. Easily in the top half of Nels era tracks and that's being really conservative, it's probably like top 15. Sad I can't be there tonight too, but with Venus they played legit the single song I wanted to hear most at this point and never in a million years thought would get, so I'm more than happy for my Solid Sound experience this year to be 1 night only. (As an aside I will say it's my first since 2017 and while the show was unbelievable, the fest itself is a little less fun now that it's like the western MA event of the summer and twice as many people as the first few were when it was just the crazies.)
I’m a big Ode to Joy defender. Think it’s genuinely one of the most overlooked and underrated records of the decade. And it’s in my Wilco album top 5. And that’s probably my favorite song on the record.
oh yeah this EP is fantastic. I love weird textured sound collagey Wilco so much listened to the album again too and I forgot how great "Evicted" is, what a song
a new venue is opening up in town and you know who got announced as their third act, next may. tickets secured.
Many Wilco fests ago, they had an installation in the museum with headphones playing a very long loop of old demos. I listened to a bunch of it and have recognized some of what I heard on the other anniversary box sets. The single most memorable thing was a studio version of the full band acoustic spiders from before they took it in the direction on the album. I have to imagine that’s one of the things on here and I am soooo excited to at long last have that version to listen to whenever. this is from around that time:
as only ever a casual listener of wilco for years, seeing them live tonight really has me realizing how much i’ve slept on them cuz goddamn that was one of the greatest performances i’ve ever seen
This is cool as hell. Clear why they’re just calling it a playlist though, I noticed the levels are all over the place song to song. Whatever I’ll take it. All this stuff is on Nugs but it’s cool to hear what the band thinks are the better versions of these songs and I was at a couple of these shows too!!
jeff's son Spencer's girlfriend Casey is releasing her debut album under her stage name Case Oats. Alt-country vibes, and Spencer produced the album. Case Oats - Last Missouri Exit (August 22, 2025) • forum.chorus.fm
The debut album from Spencer’s (Jeff’s son) fiancé is really good and I highly recommend checking it out! Case Oats - Last Missouri Exit (August 22, 2025) • forum.chorus.fm
