this is fun, much more of a comedy than a lot of the talk I saw had me expecting. it's more like a 40 minute sitcom with one scary scene per episode at least so far, but still entertaining
Just finished this tonight. Thought the first half of the season was super enjoyable. Fell off for a couple episodes then picked up and was a fun ride from episodes 8-10. that being said, this shouldve been a one season show. Absolutely no need to drag this story on.

the Jaws themed episode was fantastic too, with some great comedy in it. and the fact that those 3 talked to a person that had been buried alive for ~300 years and then just never talk about it again is funny to me
In a perfect world this would've been a 24 ep monster of the week show, flashback eps here and there to different time periods on the island and a lot more time to spend with the Tom, Wyck, Patricia crew. 20 years too late for that though.
With all due respect, this is such an insane take to me. I get wanting more episodes, ofc, but downgrading the serialized drama to make it a MOTW show is a wild ass take that I hope I'm just misinterpreting.
I will say that there are so many TV shows to watch nowadays that I don't really miss having 20 something episode seasons, especially if it affects the quality.
i dont think I'm insane for this, kinda an overblown reaction. I wouldn't want them to remove the main plot. That would be wild.
I assumed they meant keeping the overarching plot of this season and just adding in a few MOTW episodes.
I guess I got confused because it already is a MOTW show, sort of, so I assumed highlighting that meant more than just adding more episodes. Also, when people call a show OTW, it usually is as an opposite to serialized plotlines. I made an assumption, my bad.
I'm currently working through season 4 of The X Files, and man, that is a show who's seasons could have been trimmed a bit, haha.
I was definitely exaggerating a bit w saying 24 eps, but I do think it would still shine with some one-off eps sprinkled in that don't further the plot and just spend more time with the characters discovering more weird shit on the island.
kinda agree with this, I haven't got to the end yet but so far the one-off stuff like the sea hag ep is a lot more engaging to me than the main plot. same as it ever was with X-Files actually lol
hamish linklater crushed it as well, i laughed so hard when he tells wyck he already let him out of the coffin and they pan to him on the boat just sitting there staring at them hahaha
slasher ep was great but shoulda got way bloodier, really needed that whole house of annoying side characters to get killed off
we just wrapped it up and honestly 100% with the commenter in here wishing for more MOTW stuff, all the one off genre homages were super well done although I wish they went a little bit harder on some (Jaws episode teasing a big Kraken monster and never showing it smh). if s2 is just a bunch of episodes about werewolves and wendigos I would be absolutely delighted the "main plot" to me felt like 3-4 beats the writers decided on and just very slowly teased out but the payoff just was not worth the wait. saw the Evan reveal coming a mile off and just was not super invested in the silly moral dilemma stuff after a season of Loftus being an absolute dumbass. the sheriff character's complete 180 was also way too rushed and it should be a crime to waste Toby Huss like they did
