I think the lighting is the most fair criticism, along with the pacing / elongating songs and cutting in action sequences problem. but despite those the movie is so good somehow. It really could have been an all timer and might be anyway.
Is every good song from this in this one lol? I saw the Broadway show years ago and vaguely remember most of the tracks and I feel like every one I like has happened already (or is Defying Gravity).
That was alright, I liked it more than I thought I was going to. Ariana was great, Jeffy G was great, Defying Gravity was great. Too long, kinda looked like shit throughout most of it. Some fun sets.
I love Jeff, but the Mount Rushmore style head of his in “the wizard and i” cracked me up and took me out of the scene completely
Absolutely loved this - the set designs and practical effects were top notch and brought the whole world to life. I’m excited for Chu make a masterpiece in all respects down the road, he’s certainly working towards achieving that. Cynthia Erevos tone is just out of this world, The Wizard and I being a major highlight. For Good is my favorite song from this, but the second half of this musical is notorious for being pretty forgettable/meh, so I’m actually hoping that with the extra runtime they’re going to be able to really improve on it, because there’s a lot of emotion to mine.
Watched this for the second time last night and picked up on a lot more. This movie is so goddamn good.
They tend to say the Globes don't really have much of an impact on the Oscars, but... I don't think it will win much that it may be nominated for. I still need to give this a rewatch!
