Everything aside, this song is just really bad. Favorite band for the last 18 years has been blink and they've never sung anything of this magnitude - yeah Dumpweed has that one line about "training" a girl and Dysentery Gary has that battle cry at the end, but I never took those to be as violently aimed as this is. Besides, this band name dropping Sephora and Post Mates? This is garbage, but nothing new. Remember that band Brokencyde? Or the female counterpart The Millionaires? Just another crap band to add to the list.
Yeah, I just saw the beginnings, the blink 182 untitled thing, tapped out when it moved to radiohead, you could tell so fucking early that things weren't going to end well :D
Did you hear their song before this? They did the sephora thing in that one too. That song was worse as well... in all aspects, including lyrically.
Haha yeah, I never heard of them before yesterday but Spotify has just those two songs on and I curiously checked them out - I write and record music on the side and it PAINS me to see stuff like this getting recognized and backed by Feldman and even Barker! Depressing.
Yeah, there's where we go back to the topic of discussion. Feldman, well, he's written quite a few songs saying stuff like this over the years, barker hasn't written, but yeah, definitely featured on songs with a very misogynistic message. It's alright to have an issue with that and you should deal with it the way you choose to, but we shouldn't be surprised that they're backing this, their history backs it up and they've never really done otherwise; So yeah, they're still going to be pushing stuff like this. They caught quite a bit of flack for quite a few reasons lyrically and Rise removed a fuckton on comments on Youtube, this time they just disabled them completely.
Considering how big of a topic this is in the scene, I'm surprised this even got recorded especially with the names attached to it they should know better. This was never going to go down well, bold move by Rise to even release it especially since they have released records by some old school quality bands in current years with integrity.
20 pages of comments because the kid used the word "whore" in a song. I can't believe people are so upset.
Yep. now get ready for the boycott thread against rise Travis barker and anyone else guilty by association.
Either you didn't read the lyrics / watch the video and just posted a comment only after skimming a few comments in this thread, in which case don't you look silly. Or you read the lyrics, watched the video, and think that is the only objectionable content, in which case don't you look silly.
Yeah. Actions should have consequences. If you associate and promote stuff like this you should be held accountable.
So about that time when people weren't buying records like four year strong because hey we're in the same label as front porch step and they didn't tweet out against it. Gimme break that's absolutely redicoulous
I'm not sure of what aspects you're referring to because the lyrics aren't nearly as bad, and the video doesn't show scenes of alleged domestic abuse.
People have been boycotting Four Year Strong's records because they continue to work with a man who tried to cover up the sexual assault of a teenage girl by threatening anyone that spoke about it. Please, do try to at least have an inkling about what you're talking about before you hit "post."
How hard is it to understand that words have meaning and music is influential? I don't want kids listening to this shit and relating to it and growing up to have that mentality
