Do you understand why people have a problem with misogyny in general? Like it has tangible effects on the way people live and shit.
Because it's the pot calling the kettle black. You can't shame one band because of the exact same content while choosing to ignore and praise other artists for the same shit.
read the entire thread, snowflake. this isn't a safe space where you don't have to critically think about things sorry
I mean I have no issues about talking about Kanye's misogyny but not to deflect from the topic at hand. We could do that, just not here for that reason.
Yeah, that's just not what is happening at all. Everyone in this thread will readily admit to an artist's problematic past or present. People do it with Bayside, Blink, Brand New, Kanye, and more all the time. No one is "ignoring" anything.
You're from Austin, TX, according to your profile ... if someone wrote: "Welcome to 2017. The snowflakes are worried about every single natural disaster and people dying these days. I just simply don't let stuff like this bother me. Doesn't affect me or my wife or in the slightest." Would you understand the flaw in their logic?
Why does everyone defending this point out that other artists have misogynist lyrics in the past like some sort of "gotcha"? If Brand New said something this vile in 2017 we'd condemn that too
Well we did have a gas shortage and crisis because of people panicking at an issue that was created by social media. I'll think about my opinions on the matter for awhile and come back to it another time. I'm obviously missing something with not seeing eye to eye on everything. Not gonna derail this thread any longer
In 2017, it's normal behavior for people to anonymously go into a thread, insult them for having feelings, and then act like it's THEIR problem for caring about things about which all non-sociopaths care. It's incredible how human evolution has stagnated.
It really shouldn't have to be pointed out that people don't praise Kanye/other artists FOR their misogynistic lyrics, they praise other things DESPITE those lyrics. And if there were other things outside of the lyrics to praise here people could point them out if they wanted. Thing is, everything else about this sucks too.
I'm referring to Austin not Houston. If you read many articles circulating that I could link you to it was the Fort Worth star telegram that started news reports on a gas shortage that led to people in Austin and DFW panic fueling outside their normal schedule leading to all of our pumps dry. I'm don't know why you're offended your mistaken my context. I wish you the best I know it's been terrible there.
Confused because I pretty vividly remember a ton of critiquing and discussion around Kanye West on this site when he released Famous. I don't get where the idea that the members of this site gave or give Kanye a free pass comes from, except willful ignorance.
Wow imagine being the kind of person who says "I don't let things like this bother me. It has no effect on my life" Do you know any women? Stuff like this does effect them *not sure if it's effect or affect
I still don't quite think you're understanding my context or what I'm saying. Nobody had to evacuate Austin. Only Houston and Rockport/Corpus. There was plenty of fuel in the entire state of Texas. and 1 media group started up on a gas shortage because 2 stations were out in FTW. Then that caused panic in all of DFW that spread to Austin. Nothing to do with Houston. How do you not understand the situation. It was artificially created situation in MY respective city.
It was really difficult to get gas for 4 days, what a tragedy it was compared to the hurricane that hit Houston that Jason was obviously referencing in his comment
