What new bands making cool music will get (relatively) huge next year? Spoil your industry insider secrets/Make your predictions here.
Let it Happen, in terms of pop punk that isn't heteronormative or slut-shaming. Cause + Effect was probably the biggest improvement of the year for a band in that genre and I'm unreasonably excited for what they put out next year.
I couldn't get into most of Ugly Cherries, but they seem like a blast from watching live videos. I'm happy for their success and hope it continues with their news of signing of Polyvinyl. Maybe the next album will click with me more.
Day Wave & The Japanese House should hopefully get a bunch more coverage once they drop LPs, and 2017 would make sense for that
eh i mean, people have relatively different views for "blowing up". i have a few different levels: in the terms of jank i see them having potentially to play "pretty big" venues, which to me is like 500-750 caps as well as getting a ton of media coverage. PWR BTTM i see them potentially getting to indie household name status and getting to maybe some 1k caps by the end of the year, maybe. "blowing up" doesn't necessarily mean playing stadiums, but just exponential increases from where they are now
yeah, a lot of the bands i like are such a small level that getting national recognition and hype is plenty enough for "blowing up" haha
totally got that vibe after seeing them with MCS. They put on a killer show and their lead singer was totally cool to talk to (and loved that I recognized their name as being from the JEW song and not the MXPX album)
