Really like both of the new songs a lot. The tones on this sound noticeably different than what I’m used to them operating with - drums in particular sound a lot cleaner and less emphasis on warmth. Overall though this kind of feels and sounds like it’s gonna be walking back in the direction of their first two albums, which I am here for

 

the album cover imo is very telling of the direction this will be going as compared to say the spark album cover (even if they didn't lean into the 'weird' as much I had hoped with that one)

 

Totally. Feels like a pretty clear homage to Carole King’s Tapestry, which is cool even if this doesn’t wind up in that exact wheelhouse

Yeah, I felt like Spark maybe had some sequencing issues and was their weakest effort from a songwriting perspective, but what really got me off on the wrong foot with it was that lack of weirdness they implied it would have as they were recording it. I remember “disco” being thrown around as a huge influence in particular and I wasn’t picking that up at all

 

Liked but didn't love Spark, but I'll definitely check this out and spin the singles sometime today.
