Great show last night, a few comments: 1) I still wish I could understand/hear his lyrics better - both on album and in concert - very hard to hear what he's saying 2) The old songs (pre World's Greatest) are WAY better live - I think that early stuff must suffer from lo-fi production on album. That was a neat bonus. Really enjoyed them.
I keep trying to convince my bandmates to go to the Chicago show with me because I know they'd have a blast, but I saw last night that it's sold out haha.
The old stuff on Does It Again, it bears repeating, suffers from shoebox production. The hooks on those songs are enormous and they really shine now that the band plays them live with as much precision as the new stuff. Kinda hope they can revisit it at some point, or get a quality recording of live versions.
it's not that I don't like any of the bands....I saw Weezer once, for free, at that very venue, and it was one of the most mortifyingly cringe experiences I have ever sat through (despite liking maybe half their material). As for the rest, I've seen Joyce Manor already touring material I liked better, I've caught Spoon before and found them just OK live, and post-Jeremiah Green I have no further desire to see MM do their thing. That said, VERY stoked to see WR with Militarie Gun in a couple weeks.
Oh I understand how the lineups work now lol Weezer / Spoon / WR would be a good show probably, assuming Weezer no longer shunt their best songs into medleys or read from their Twitter feed live during the gig
I've seen Weezer three times at this point and don't need to see them again since their stage presence is garbage. And that's coming from a ride or die Weezer fan. I'll only go if it's specifically pointed out they're doing a full album tour for Pinkerton or Blue like they did back in the day. It's just a greatest hits set now at this point. That being said, White Reaper brings it every time I see them, and can't wait to see them on Friday in Omaha!
I saw a video of Weezer live on YouTube the other day from one of their latest tours and it was so incredibly dull. I get they are old and such, but it was awful.
Judy French is maybe one of the most perfect rock songs ever. Each instrument brings such a cool and memorable vibe to the song. Stoked to be seeing this guys for a third time tomorrow night. Especially as a fan of their entire catalog now.
Was supposed to see them in Omaha last week but they postponed for unknown reasons. Hopefully they come back around this summer.
Didn’t know this was happening. Fuck yes. Blink-182 adds White Reaper, KennyHoopla to North American tour – 105.7 The Point
Happy for them. Still listen to the new album pretty regularly. Ended up making a White Reaper/Dirty Nil playlist and it’s been in heavy rotation.
