I wish I liked "pages" more because "why were things so complicated / sensitive and intricate" is a great line to sneak into a big dumb chorus
Honestly after a bunch of listens about half of this isn’t sticking with me much. Definitely solid but less standout tracks than there other albums. Think the first two singles are still my favorite tracks
I got into them when World’s Best came out, but I gotta say if Does It Again had the same sonic production of YDL or Asking, it would hands down be my favorite. It still is my favorite cuz the energy of it is unreal. Love everything they do though so it’s hard to rank for me.
I kinda wish they dropped Fog Machine as the first/lead single. What a song and music video haha. YDL definitely got screwed because of Covid and the album still did well for them. The poppier side definitely appealed to a lot of new people for them, so it’ll be interesting to see how this new album performs over time.
They’re getting some pretty cool support slots opening for Foo Fighters and Green Day at festivals, so I’m hoping for the best for them on this upcoming tour! I really enjoy this album, but besides “Fog Machine” and “Pages” and maybe “Crawlspace”, I don’t see any of these songs having radio appeal the way “Might Be Right” and “Real Long Time” had.
Saw the first setlist and they are playing the front half of the album (plus Pages and Pink Slip) so they obviously disagree about which half is stronger
Looked at the setlist and would have replaced Funny Farm with Crawlspace and put in Pills from Does It Again
The guitar in the right channel during “Thorn” really reminds me of “Untitled 9” or whatever the “Archers” predecessor was by B…. …
Just looked at a couple recent setlists before the show tonight and not gonna lie I’m a little bummed they’re still devoting so much time to stuff off the first album. Just clearly not as good as the other three
This is such a fun album. Not crazy about the opener but it’s growing on me. Dude was absolutely meant to sing in this type of band.
I love the aggression of this album. It has the very “simple” feel of all their albums but the heavier stuff (title track) and softer songs, like Heaven Or Not or Crawlspace, are incredibly charming.
they fucking rocked today!! will never understand why these guys are playing to a couple hundred ppl each night and not 10,000
I truly think they got robbed by the pandemic. They probably would’ve done a lot of growing as a band after the immediate success of YDL, but that was cut short real quick.
Saw them last night, so good. Did not realize Taipei Houston is just Lars Ulrich’s sons. They rip too.
