Obligatory: 1. YTL 2. TWGAB 3. DIA 4. AFAR This record didn’t nearly have the staying power for me. Even the singles, as much as they rip, don’t hit the same way a deeper cut like “Daisy” or “Headwind” do.
Looking at it now, I can hear the disconnect in Asking for a Ride. Nick and Sam were probably on autopilot. Loved Fog Machine and Pink Slip but the rest of the album didn’t do much for me.
I couldn’t tell you my favorite record from these guys. It changes too much. I do like AFAR quite a bit though. It’s like their EP/Does It Again but cleaner and tighter. I think they do the indie punk stuff quite well, but they also nail the pop rock stuff quite well too. Versatile band. That’s why I love them so much. I do only own TWGARB on vinyl and is the only album of theirs I wanted on vinyl, so I guess that says something too.
Does It Again is tops for me but I dig pretty much all of their catalog Does It Again White Reaper EP You Deserve Love World's Best American Band Asking for a Ride
I liked AFAR a lot despite it feeling a bit labored (I guess we know why now). Tough to imagine them bouncing back from this but I'm rooting for em.
Now I'm extra bummed that the run with spiritual cramp didn't come closer. Going to be weird seeing them without them
That’s fucking wild. Losing your rhythm section is brutal to a band’s onstage tightness. Hoping for the best with all parties.
These guys have been playing for a long time. I’m sure they know people in the community. They’re going to be just fine. what’s going to be difficult to find is a rhythm section that’s blood related lol. The brothers are great. However, have you heard the rhythm section of Spiritual Cramp?
“Guided by the ethos that their songs are meant to be immediate and timeless, White Reaper channels the magic that they summon on stage in the studio and is currently recording its fifth full-length record, due out in 2025.” V excited for this. Gonna see these guys Thursday at the fair!
Damn had no idea the twins left this band. For whatever it’s worth, they had a bunch of way more experimental side projects with some mutual friends in Louisville forever ago. Always liked White Reaper way more than what I heard of that stuff, but not shocking they’d want to do other stuff more of the time I guess
Don’t think this was ever shared here - Tony and Ryan have started making music together under the name 3GT. Not my thing in the slightest but it exists so here it is
