Oh I like this news U.S. suspends tax on Scotch whisky, other U.K. products that were part of Boeing-Airbus fight
Awesome! I was aware Biden was being lobbied, this is huge for whiskey producers. Bourbon exports were down like 33% in 2020. This is great news for the industry.
Unfortunately it will take awhile for the current inventory to sell but hey, that's just an excuse to buy more whisky
A fellow scotch guy on Instagram offered to send me a bunch of free samples. We had a zoom call yesterday where he showed me his collection in his cellar and told me the stories behind some of the bottles. It was cool to listen to him nerd out about it. He also had a couple of "family only" bottles like the Bruichladdich Black Art and a Balvenie 21 Yr. Here's what he's sending me: Aberfeldy 18 Glenfarclas 21 Benriach 10 Bruichladdich Classic Laddie Bruichladdich Bere Barley Bruichladdich Port Charlotte 10 Bruichladdich is his favorite distillery and I've never had any of their stuff, so I'm stoked to try it.
Love all the activity in here, guess I should post more too haha. I’ve done a couple barrel picks lately I’m really excited about. Had a friend who owns a store hit me up last minute to drive down to Firefly Distillery (Charleston SC) a few weeks back. They are owned by Sazerac and have barrels sourced from Buffalo Trace. We tasted four barrels that were around 7 years old and ended up picking two. Then, last week after well over a year of working on it, I finally got some samples for a pick of Jack Daniel’s Barrel Proof for a club I’m in. We weren’t able to go to the distillery due to Covid, but the samples were killer. It’s pretty highly allocated, but somehow they let us take two barrels. Should be bottled in a few weeks!
Beautiful bottle! So cool. I've always wanted to visit a distillery. One day I'll get over to Scotland.
i don't know a ton about whiskey but Bully Boy is a boston local distillery and they make a very nice one American Straight Whiskey — Bully Boy Distillers
Picked up some of the No. 9 Reserve. It’s maybe the spiciest rye I’ve ever had. I can’t wait to make cocktails with it.
Very late to the distillery chat, but just want to say when I did our local distillery tour the barrel warehouse was the single greatest smell I have ever experienced. I would do another tour just for that.
Trying this at the distillery this weekend it was very, very spicy. Adding a splash of water to this last night did the trick and makes for a great sipping cup.
Been really into rye lately. These are a few I've enjoyed if anyone is getting into rye or wants some (perhaps) new suggestions. Resurgens Rye — ASW Distillery Spirits | Wilderness Trail Distillery Double Rye!
Hell yeah. I had some Bulleit for the first time a few weeks ago and really liked it. Also that is a sick glass!
