I now live an 18 minute walk away from an awesome distillery (Motor City Gas) and tonight they’re releasing a scotch and I’m so pumped
The old Blue Point Brewery location near me (10 min walk) is turning over into a distillery this spring and i am hyype.
Wife got me Booker’s Small Batch “Country Ham” for Christmas. Excited to try it. Relative novice Whiskey/Bourbon guy but I look forward to diving in
Enjoy! If you go to try it neat, a lot of time adding a little water can open it up those higher proof bourbons quite nicely. Not a necessity at all, but could elevate/give something a little different to the experience.
I have a horrendous problem where I mix even really nice whiskey in ginger ale or Diet Coke. A bartender even questioned me recently and was like “ You mean just a splash.. right..?” EMBARRASSING I am drinking a bulliet and diet now and it’s my favorite drink.
Thanks! I tried it neat but eventually went over a cube. I loved it! Moved on to an Old Fashioned made from one of the local distilleries. How does everyone feel about/make their Old Fashions?
I know it's not fancy, but I've been listening to a Hunter S. Thompson audiobook and he makes Wild Turkey sound great so i picked up the 101 for $20. Good for its price.
Absolutely. Not really much of anything that can top it at the price point. Their older stuff (80s-early 00s) was especially good. Just did a trade for some 2000s era WT 101 rye. Had some from 06 that was some of the best rye I’ve ever tasted.
I don't know what it is, but I've just never been into Wild Turkey. Maybe I need to try it again. But for the price, there's other whiskeys I'd rather have.
Just entered the lotteries for Pappy Van Winkle 23, Van Winkle Rye 13, Pappy 20, Pappy 15, Old Rip Van Winkle 10, and Lot B. Let's go.
Nice! Good luck! I scored a Van Winkle rye and Old Rip 10 this fall. Stuff is ridiculously hard to find.
