I should either be one year into a doctorate for PT, considering going that route, or else working as a PTA and I'll probably have found something else to work towards. I feel more at home in Michigan than I have elsewhere so I'll probably still be here.
Honestly, in 5-10 years, I want to be on a tour bus, or crashing at a friend's house. I don't see any permanent residence for myself until I'm in my late 30s to be honest.
Seattle or Portland. STL will always be home to me but I honestly want to live in the PNW for a bit. If I can't make it there, I'd like to give Chicago a shot.
I'm from Michigan originally. I know what you mean about the 6-month winters :/ I'm just glad it's a little bit sunnier here in Missouri.
I'm in Michigan now after 6 years in Missouri haha. I like just about everything here more than Missouri -- except for the weather
I'll be spending the next 4 years in Ithaca, NY for veterinary school, but after that I'd like to move to Boston. I lived there for a summer and always liked it a bit more than the other major cities. That said, gotta follow the jobs, right?
It's tough because I love autumn. It's my favorite season. Autumn in Michigan is really very pretty, but it's also incredibly brief. We get maybe three actual weeks of it and then boom winter for the next half year. So every time autumn rolls around I get excited because I love the atmosphere of it, but I also know what's waiting just around the corner. It would be nice to live somewhere that isn't so grey and dull for such long periods of time. I crave sunlight. At the same time, out in Los Angeles the days don't get as long in the summer as they do here. The latest the sun sets in Michigan at summer's peak is 9:15 or so and it's light out till almost 10. In L.A. it only ever reaches up to about 8:08. Haha, it's such a minor quibble when I consider everything else (especially the amount of sunlight California gets on average), but it's just something I'm so used to after living here my whole life.
I know it's cliched, but there really is nothing like Chicago in the Spring/Summer, love living here. That said, I don't really have a drive to end up in a specific place.
Haha yep. I totally get why people would hate it though, especially in the Winter. It's as grey/bitter/frigid as anywhere Eastern Europe has on its roster. But, to be honest I even kinda dig that. This last Winter didn't give us too much trouble, but the one before that was a bastard. But that said, every morning after a decent snow I'd go outside to dig out my gf's car and I'd get to bitch with my neighbors about it and we'd all help each other out pushing if someone's car was stuck. There's beauty in the struggle; and that comes through in Chicago like no other place I've ever been. And yeah, the warm months are unbeatable. Riding my bike on the trail next to Lake Shore with the skyline on one side and the beach on the other is perfect. Chicago doesn't get much credit for being a beach town, but June-Sept it's fucking glorious.
This is an odd question because I really don't know how to answer it. If you asked me back in high school (2006-2010) (or even earlier in college) I would always say I wanted to move to California and somehow enter the entertainment industry. Now I don't know. I would love to move to some place that doesn't get winter (and if it does the winter weather isn't that bad (I hate the snow and ice, but don't mind the cold... Although changing the thermostat from warm weather to cold bothers me)), but I love the rain (especially heavy rain, so that knocks California out as option (especially with how expensive it is to live there)). I'd still like to somehow enter the entertainment/creative field, but I don't know the best places to be for that. Plus I would like to live near a city or town so I can walk to places I need to go to (Can't really drive because I have a disability that prevents me from driving (Don't want to get into it, but I'm hoping one day Google cars (or something like them) will be a thing))). Ultimately in the next 5-10 years I would like to grow independent (currently living with parents) and get into shape. (Forgot to mention) I would also like to publish some books, I've been thinking of doing that a lot lately. My ultimate goal/dream (whenever it may be) would be to get a house (whether pre-built, or I could help design) with an indoor pool. Plus ease of access (walking or biking distance) to a nearby town. As for a job helping create movies/shows, and maybe if I get into shape I could try acting and/or being in a punk rock band ;)
I don't want to end up here, in Alabama. That's really all I know. I've spent nearly 10 years living in the deep south, and I'm pretty over it at this point. Ideally, I'd love to be back in New England.
I kinda wanna move to Nashville then NYC then Denver. Possibly California after that. Who knows how long that'll take though.
Still living in Chicago, working at the same awesome company, hopefully wife no longer working and another baby.
Denver, SLC, or Seattle seem nice. Seattle has earthquakes so my paranoia puts it last on the list. Between Denver and SLC, it's a close one.
I just moved to Chicago from New Hampshire 6 months ago and I love it, ideally though, I will move again. The most unrealistic desitnation is Wales or England. Id love to move around a lot but my end game is to end up in a small PNW town about 45 minutes outside of a major city like Portland or Seattle.
Ideally some kind of coastal town, but realistically wherever there's employment (I'm a music major haha)
