right.....the context is given above in the full quote from chester, clearly as a response to that question. its understandable but it doesnt make it any less asinine to tell your fans to "get over it". literally all of those bands get pestered about their progressions, TGA have fans that to this day bother them about not making another SOS, tons of JEW fans want another Clarity and dont like the direction theyve gone in. thats fine, but it would be weird if brian or jim was just like "get over it" or "stab yourself in the face" you get what im saying? bands and artists have a right to release whatever they want, obviously, but the way chester is going about this is just strange like ok sorry not a lot of people have liked the following albums. plus as others have said above he'll be singing a different tune once that 20 year anniversary hits im sure.
I haven't read that title in about ten years; thanks a lot, Jason, for making me feel like I'm on Break.com in 2006.
Yeah, his comments seem a bit extreme. I feel like its pretty common (but not always) for the favorite album of the fans to be a bands first album, which in many cases the band themselves always trash or complain about
I am 90% sure Hybrid Theory is the first CD I ever bought, lol. Right around the same time, I picked up 3 Doors Down, Ocean Avenue and Move Along (all at Walmart), so to be fair, it could have been any of those four.
hey btw im into Modest Mouse now i figured youd be proud since i know theyre like, youre favorite band or somewhere around there
Alright, so I just did some research and the 3 Doors Down CD I owned was definitely The Better Life, which was released the same year as Hybrid Theory (2000). I was probably 10 at the time of purchase, and I remember buying Move Along based on the radio singles, so I'm like 99% sure my first CD was Hybrid Theory. I may have called my brother one day and asked him to pick up Ocean Avenue before then, but I distinctly remember picking up Hybrid Theory based on my friends' tastes and the album art before 3 Doors Down or Move Along. I think about this semi-regularly and I'm glad this thread is helping me finally get to the bottom of it
They are and I am reading that thread was an emotional rollercoaster lol edit: nah nevermind, Linkin Park are once again the rightful heirs to that throne and Hybrid Theory is the GOAT
lol at anyone and everyone who sees anything wrong with that interview. But, hey, whatever, who cares.
Is it terrible that I kinda want this album to flop just cause they're being dicks about all of this?
People keep asking him about Hybrid Theory... it's taking him one step closer to the edge... and he's about to break. Okay, I'll see myself out as well. EDIT: This is THE on-going joke for Linkin Park posts on theprp.com - I can't take credit for all these likes...
Ha I don't see much of anything wrong with what he's saying. I get where he's coming from. Also, is the title in reference to something? I only know that phrase from the name of a Hawthorne Heights song.
I want to say that Hawthorne Heights actually got the title of the song from either Jason or some user on Absolute Punk in reaction to Hawthorne Height's music.
No offense, but isn't a significant part of this site's userbase constantly telling the rest of us to "move the fuck on" from bands like Blink, FOB & Paramore's older stuff? Pretty sure there was 40 pages of it when that bland new FOB song came out, why is it different for LP? The perceived quality of the newer music is also not even remotely a valid point when discussing this IMO. Papercut is a 10/10 song too. People who disagree need not reply, ty.
I dont think people are irked over the "get over it/move on" comment, it's more the "stab yourself in the face" comment.
good for you if it doesn't bother you, but don't "lol" at us. that's disrespectful and very ap.net's front page-like, it isn't the place to do that.
not very tactful of Chester, I get the sentiment but that's a poor way of telling fans to move on you know ? btw Meteora is way better.
Dunno, I think if any of those bands berated their fans I'd be annoyed at it as well ... I think a "userbase" or even an artist making an argument for why they are moving past their old music or sound is one thing, and I think telling people to stab themselves in the face and reducing the discussion to "get the fuck over it" is something else. I'd probably give a warning for someone just saying "get the fuck over it" when discussing any of those bands as well. I think if that's an artist's best argument, that I wonder if the artist has even thought it through.
