The hotel packages do come with a ticket (VIP, GA+, or GA). I believe you can do up to four tickets per package.
Yea tickets are included with the hotel packages! It’s a sweet deal. They didn’t text the code for the package to me until midnight last night so I ended up just getting GA when they went on sale at 1.
Ya know, could they really do this again without repeating half of the bands. Yes, there are a good solid 20-30 bands that aren't here but is there really more? That aren't cancelled or isn't a more different genre (like avenged sevenfold or whatever...or more punk/ska less than Jakes)
With knocked loose being on this they could pull from that heavier genre a little more to flesh out the under card.
Sure. A-tier: Blink with Tom Twenty One Pilots (a little too modern for my tastes, but...) The Offspring Fall Out Boy No Doubt Avenged Sevenfold (would actually work) B/C-tier: Rise Against Underoath The Get Up Kids Something Corporate Gym Class Heroes The Academy Is... Simple Plan Good Charlotte Sum 41 Yellowcard reunion New Found Glory Less Than Jake Plain White T's Cobra Starship Thrice Motion City Soundtrack Goldfinger Circa Survive Chiodos Set Your Goals The Early November Never Shout Never Cartel I could do a bigger list if I had more time. There are also a TON of D-tier bands like Hit The Lights or the Ataris or Play Radio Play or any of those neon bands that could round out the bill. Toss in some smaller reunions like Boys Night Out, TREOS, Rocket to the Moon, etc. They probably should have held some bands back this year (didn't need Dashboard AND Jimmy AND TBS), but I digress.
Park, Funeral for a Friend, Have Mercy, forever the sickest kids, the rocket summer, saves the day, say anything, cartel and those are just bands that came on my apple radio station in 15 seconds of hitting skip.
also throw in Death Cab For Cutie, Coheed & Cambria, Panic at the Disco, The Honorary Title, Straylight Run, From Autumn to Ashes, Envy on the Coast, Jacks Mannequin, Mae, Relient K, Sum 41, Circa Survive, Spitalfield, Gym Class Heroes, Mest, The Academy Is, Cobra Starship, Say Anything, Finch, the list goes on and on. Plus the potential for big reunions like Blink, Midtown, Box Car Racer, Yellowcard, Rilo Kiley, etc. If the demand is still alive they can keep this going for YEARS.
This festival definitely has the ability to become a regular thing if they diversify the lineup in future years, but I do feel like people should hold their horses. This demand is crazy for several reasons. 1. The demise of Warped Tour and the hot topic music scene in general. 2. Bands not touring for 2 years due to covid and people not going to shows in general during that times. There’s an unprecedented demand for live music. 3. The ability to pull two headliners that haven’t toured in a pretty long time and are among the biggest in the scene. They also pulled the biggest bands in various scenes. Neck Deep/TSSF for modern pop punk, ADTR/BMTH/PTV/I Prevail/DGD for metalcore/post hardcore, and the myriad of Emo bands. They got the biggest bands for the most part in all of those scenes. Once these bands tour more the festival would lose its novelty with repeat artists. Unless they become more like a Riot Fest and diversify to indie, more classic pop punk, metal, etc the lineup could become stale really quick. There are not a ton of bands who could headline at this level left in this scene. Maybe FOB and Blink. PATD maybe but I don’t really see them headlining a festival like this since they’ve outgrown the scene for a long time.
Yeah if they are going to do this again they need to diversify the lineup, both in the genres booked (like I said before, they should do this every few years but switch up the target genre) and who composes the acts performing. (more women/POCs/LGBTQ+ folks)
Bowling For Soup too while we’re at it… They could also add some older emo/post hardcore groups into the mix too like The Promise Ring, Braid, American Football, Quicksand, Jawbox, Jawbreaker, etc. Surely they have a large pool of contemporary ones they could do too (Touché Amore, The World Is A Beautiful Place, etc.) They could also get away with pulling some more punk-leaning pop punk bands too like MxPx, or Descendents They could keep this going for a while, I think
Hit The Lights' Invicta is still a jam and it's shame they didn't expand on. Probably in my top 5 most played albums of 2012.
