I love this fest but I don't mind if they skip next year

If Kevin was smart he’d convince bands to slum it for a summer and create a bigger MainStage to invite the older acts playing in select markets

I'm pretty sure Riot! is Hayley's least favorite album so I doubt we'll get that in full. Maybe "Brand New Eyes" someday though.

Regardless, now that the Danny Wimmer fests are starting to incorporate more pop-punk/emo into their lineups, and we have Warped-reboot across both coast, I really don't think we need WWWY anymore. Unless they pull out another big gimmick like the album plays, I don't really feel compelled to travel for this again.

tbh most of the appeal of wwwy was just seeing all the big names on the poster, even if it was logistically impossible to see enough of those bands to justify the price.

I dont think the Danny WImmer fests will have any effect on WWWY. The main appeal of WWWY is that its just one day, and in a fun city. You're not gonna get as many young parents willing to sleep in a tent for four days in the middle of nowhere.

Also as interesting as the album plays are to me, it kinda felt like a failed experiment at this fest.

Yea, the album plays was interesting as I think no one was ever going to love the album for each band so it diluted it. Some bands I loved the album choice, others I was like 'wtf, that's not their best album!'. Album plays work as a tour as you know you're going to get a 2nd set and an encore (unless it's a massively long album) but for a fest where the set time is literally just 'album', it was never going to please all.

I agree with the previous posts and think the only "obvious" headliners left who haven't done it would be *insert band name here that is not discussed on this website*, The Killers (Vegas, synergy), fun., Twenty One Pilots, 1975, and, possible, curveball, Death Cab. They definitely fall into that Bright Eyes bucket from the first year (which was possibly the biggest whiff the festival ever made, slotting them between Avril and BMTH), but I think there is definite fanbase crossover between them and emo world.

As for who is still left to play in the undercard, I am dying to know what the organizers have against The Early November. Unwritten Law is a pretty glaring omission (literally had a number one song and several other legit hits that people still love to this day), Hit The Lights is another odd one, as well as many of the ones I've seen listed in the thread.

To me though, the one I wanna see more than anyone is Sugarcult. According to Marko, they have at least been asked several times, but Tim won't do it. Which is such a shame because they are such an important band for so many people (including and especially myself) and since they had such an abrupt breakup, it would be so amazing to see them take the stage one more time and get the respect they deserve. To me, they really are the ultimate "this band should have been arena headliners" of this scene, so would love to see them at WWWY. Sigh. Oh well!

Death Cab is definitely not headliner level

Death Cab played as a last minute replacement for Avril Lavigne the first year, who cancelled, and my friends all told me the reception to their set was mostly indifference.

I've thought about them, but honestly I dont think they could ever headline. Every headliner for WWWY so far has been a stadium level act. BN tried doing arenas for their first tour in 8 years and it bombed. If Avril Lavigne and Weezer are still considered sub-headliners for this fest, then no way can BN even be a top 3 name. Also I think their egos would prefer to play Best Friends Forever.

Speaking of, I really think WWWY could just promote acts like Weezer, Avril, Bring Me the Horizon, etc to headliner level, reduce ticket prices by like 100 bucks, and still sell just as well.

Re Sugarcult: isn’t the hang up the fact that Tim doesn’t really have a voice to sing anymore?

An idea is something that Bamboozle did and have acts do a cover set on one day and then regular on the other.

John // OC now, OH forever.

To be fair, Brand New's arena tour bombed because their ego let them think they could come back without truly addressing the abuse allegations.

Absolutely. BN returning after that long would have been astronomical if Jesse wasn't an abuser

My pipe dream is a 80’s/90’s/2000’s indie WWWY Fest. The Strokes headline, Death Cab, The Shins and Modest Mouse sub, and then the undercard is stuff like Built To Spill

Sort of. JLH really only focuses on 2000’s indie. I’d like something that spans all eras
