Was on the 7 eleven side yesterday waiting for Panic and after Blink finishes, this group around me was complaining about Blink being "too old" and the amount of dick jokes that "nobody" was laughing at. These tiktok kids really don't know what Blink is about haha
Idk whats sillier. The guy complaining about an apparent deep cut set list or people being mad at blinks humor (the one theyve had for 25 years)
Panic MURDERED IT. I never got to see them play Fever when it came out, so getting to see songs like "Nails For Breakfast" "Esteban" "There's A Good Reason" and "Build God" was incredibly special. And then to just go beast mode and play SIXTEEN more songs after the album was truly a sight to behold. Incredible production, Brendon sounded great, looked like he was in heaven, and (me) being in the crowd with everyone going nuts was so much fun. There's a zero percent chance a tour isn't forthcoming. You don't come back and play a set like that and just leave it. So I, for one, can't wait to see what's next. Also, bonus points for night 2 peeps getting "New Perspective" in the setlist!
Also, curious to hear about people's experiences re GA, GA+, VIP, cabana. This was my third time going and second time doing VIP and, personally, think it is 100% worth it. Is it perfect? No, but nothing ever is. For me, being the ripe age of 37, my priority is that I don't feel like a packed sardine the whole time. I've seen a lot of complaining on Reddit about people feeling like VIP was oversold this year and while, yes, there were a ton of people in VIP, I had a few friends who did GA and I was trying to get to them at various points and it was impossible. Even by mid-late afternoon, GA felt like an impenetrable cement block of people trying to get through, so I just gave up after a few different attempts and angles. In VIP, you could at least lie down and that is quite important after a while. The one piece of feedback I have about my festival experience was that at main stage, getting from one VIP area to another was pretty convoluted, having to make a complete loop around both VIP and GA (Ghost and Allianz stages do not have this problem). This, of course, raises the question of how do you fix it. My take? Have cabanas on both sides and have a sky bridge connecting the two (the cabana stands were on a different side this year than in years past anyway). You can have people in VIP allowed to use that to cross over, but you rope off the stands and such for the cabana people and keep it moving. But I'm also not an engineer, so I don't know how feasible that is lol Also, having to wait in line to go through one checkpoint for ID check, then another for bag check, then another for scanning wristbands/tickets seemed a tad inefficient. But other than that, I had an absolute blast and WWWY continues to be something I look forward to every year.
To be honest, I just saw Blink live at a festival and I whined after it lol. The humor was awful and not in a 'self aware' or a nostalgic way, just cringe, and they're a pretty bad live band in my opinion. Though a caveat is that I'm not the biggest blink fan to begin with and I know it's all subjective, but it was a big let down for me. I saw partial bits at WWWY the last time, but I think I was elsewhere as well. I did VIP at this fest last year (after 2 years of GA) and it was 100% worth it. Skipped this year, but if sick sad new world is a good lineup, I'll do VIP for that. Both sets of tickets are expensive (GA and VIP) but I felt I got my moneys worth and overall had a better time in VIP for sure. Hope everyone who went had fun.
This is hilarious as I saw a video of the 'running to the barricade' day 1, and the Panic fan who got their first asked them to play that song when they interviewed him. He said he was going home for day 2 and then they play it day 2 haha
Yeah I think 2025 was announced at the end of October last year. Could be anytime, if they keep that timeline up.
Rumor I saw on tik tok was no WWWY in 2026 and they’re gonna focus on the 2 City Sick New World. With hopes they can do that model for WWWY.
I feel like nearly every band I listened to from this scene has played this festival already...who is left? I am betting on headlining set from The Format though
I don't know if The Format would be big enough to headline WWWY, but some other bands that I think could/should play WWWY at some point: Home Grown Somos Dryjacket Millencolin Sugarcult Eve 6 Just Surrender The Morning Of Pentimento JamisonParker Head Automatica 1997 Letter Kills Emanuel Hazen Street Box Car Racer The Fully Down Dead Poetic Jinxed The Matches Gob Blood Brothers Park Funeral for a Friend Sherwood Damone Recover I wonder if they'd ever consider having a Drive Thru Records stage there. Home Grown, Finch, TEN, TSL, The Movielife, Fenix Tx, NFG, Midtown, RX Bandits, Something Corporate, Allister, Hellogoodbye, Senses Fail, Steel Train.
The Format definitely wouldn't be big enough to headline with their tour hitting 2000 cap rooms, but they can definitely play in the future. A Fun. reunion though, if that ever happened...
Real Friends hasnt played it, which is surprising considering other pop punk bands from the same era have played it. Also probs a lot of people wont like this but MGK. Also I feel Twenty One Pilots could headline this, specially if they sell it as their last show before their hiatus or something like that
A couple of people on the Facebook group with connections to the organizers said the same. This year’s survey asked about interest in a weekend GA pass. I wonder if they’d actually go through with that.
Unless they were on it this year the early November remain an insane absentee. that said, so many of these bands still tour and/or still play reunion shows that WWWY sounds like a needlessly stressful and expensive venture unless you reaaally want the old warped experience with far more people. And I say that as someone who would really like to go lol. Would be cool if they assembled a bill of bands that don’t tour or play one-offs. Would pay for that. Dead poetic would be an insta-buy.
I'll just dream big of a lineup with The Strokes playing a Is This It 25th Anniversary Album Play with Arctic Monkeys celebrating 20 years of Whatever People Say I Am
I swear I don't know what was actually popular anymore with some of the suggestions of who should play this fest and where they'd rank. I am probably wrong on a lot of it, but I don't even know who the format are (couldn't name one song / band member etc) and I consider Fun just straight up pop and massively out of place here (it'd be like the killers playing). EDIT - I see the Format / Fun connection. That would be a big pass for me if either of those headlined as the main draw as I don't like the vocals at all. But I do agree that we're pretty much out of big pop punk / emo bands without shifting genre a little bit.
Having done VIP all four years with flights + hotels + everything else, my wallet appreciates the year off! They already covered the big headliners. An MGK or 21p set isn’t going to move the needle at an 80k person nostalgia emo fest. MCR, Green Day, Blink, Panic!, Paramore, Fall Out Boy are the heavy hitters and they’ve all done 1-2 years each already.
MGK's moment has faded. His upcoming arena tour is selling really poorly. So I don't think we'd ever have to worry about him headlining. As much as I enjoy MCR they seem to just be using this reunion as a routine cash grab as they continue to pursue their true interests. I can see them being like the System of a Down of emo and continuously doing WWWY every other year. I can see The 1975 and Twenty One Pilots eventually headlining, too.
It definitely feels like a year off thing. Refreshing the brand and do Paramore and Green Day again n 2 years doing Riot and Dookie (id prefer insomniac but hey) :)
MGKs tour is supposed to start in like 3 weeks and those ticket maps are ROUGH. I'd be surprised if this tour still happens. Playing tickets to my downfall in full isn't moving any the needle at all lol
I was hoping Paramore would do Riot in full at Riot Fest 2017, it was the perfect moment for it. But now I think they wont do any album plays ever
Its tough because the album play thing is niche....and festivals like this are for more normies so I gett it
