I know this isnt the topic of the thread, but I do think Just Like Heaven still can book acts that fit the festival vibe that havent play it before like The Strokes, Air, LCD Soundsystem, Sky Ferriera, The Kooks or The Libertines (first US show since 2007 maybe can do numbers), plus newer acts like The Dare and Snow Strippers. Or they can go bigger with acts like Arctic Monkeys and The Killers
Minnesota yacht club. It’s in St. Paul. This year has fall out boy, Weezer, Green Day, and sublime all playing. Plus a bunch of others
If they change the location every couple of years this fest can live forever. Bring it to the east coast!
Yeah I think JLH has a few years left in it and there are easily a few bands they could get for it. But maybe 2 or 3 more, idk how long they could last unless they expand their palette for what “indie” bands they book
get it out of that fucking parking lot in Vegas. so many great venues for this in other parts of the country.
I get the allure of Vegas. It’s a destination city after all, so it makes sense There are plenty of other places will still be warm/hot that time of year anyway
The Vegas location is absolutely fine. I have gone all 3 years and only had minor issues at any point. All things considered, I think it's an extremely well run festival with good stage spacing, adequate food and drink vendors and bathrooms etc and it's at the best time of the year for heat besides being in actual winter. It's a destination city, and is giving large groups of friends an opportunity to go hang out in a fun place or to go in a smaller group and meet people. It's easy to identify who's there for the fest and it's just a great friendly time, from downtown / old Vegas all the way up to the top of the strip. I'm all for it and am still probably going to hang out this year even if I'm not going to the fest.
Southwest had a 50% off sale last week; was able to snag two round trip flights for $500. Last time it cost about $1,300. Flights aren't the best of times, but to save that much money? I don't even care.
They should just do it in the middle of the summer at Arrowhead/Kauffman stadium in KC,MO. Really bring back the nostalgia of heat stroke on asphalt.
Laughing my ass off at the thought of straylight run being directly followed by letlive, but what a show, damn
Bands like Spitalfield never getting an invite to play this thing yet shoehorning themselves into shows every year is a real joy for me.
I feel Spitalfield would fit better at Best Friends Forever, imo The band that surprises me the most that has not been invited to this is Real Friends. Also surprised they weren't in the lineup for any of the Warped Tour dates this year.
