I hear all of this....one unexpected crowd surfer kicked me so hard in the back of the head once I remember literally seeing stars like in the cartoons....nowadays Id never be able to hold up so Im willing to bet a large portion of WWWY were elder emos like myself

Wait, were you at the Armor for Sleep set on Saturday? There were two guys next to me wearing this and I almost asked to take a pic because it was so cool haha

It just feels like the absolute most selfish thing to do at a concert, though I know it's a rush for the individual and bands like it when people are participating in that way, but absolutely no one helping move you through the crowd is having a good time in that moment.

Don't get my millennial ass started on people videoing themselves while crowd surfing. Literally the dorkiest thing I've seen at concerts lately.

i was never a crowd surfer (mostly because i feel bad, ive always been at least 150-170lbs in my life). It doesn't bother me when it's a younger kid, a girl or whatever, because i want them to have a good time and every younger person should experience a surf once...... but yes, a few shoes to the head and my annoyance lvel goes up

but thats why i tend to avoid the front. A show i went to recently, a jolly big man picked me up and said "you're going up"...which was funny and made me feel like i was 16 so that was funny

Literally trying to think who could headline this next year that would make sense.

No Doubt? They’d want too much.

Be curious how this festival operates in a world where Warped Tour exists in a similar format

  7. I think I am too old for festivals now lol. Glad I did the first two years of this. I’d maybe go back to adjacent if they ever did it again because it’s close and over two days.

If you need to hop around (and probably land on peoples feet) I’m not sure what you’re enjoying is the live music.

Feel like it’s gonna be an off year next year unless they repeat the album gimmick with different albums. Too many repeat acts already and Warped Tour is coming back

If they want to keep with the emo/pop punk adjacent bands, and if they want no-repeat headliners, they can try getting a Panic At The Disco reunion, or maybe going for a band like Twenty One Pilots

Didn’t Panic “break up” like a year ago?

But it is though. That's what got me into punk rock shows (and adjacent genres) 23 years ago It's not just seeing the band live, if i wanted that i could watch youtube or go to a seated show, but if i'm going to GA i'm going for the experience and yes, "dancing" at a concert, is part of that experience. 207 pits later and still trying to hold on. Hey 2023 was a blast, no complaints.

There's a reason why a lot of bands encourage movement. It's all about energy. Standing and recorrding with a cell phone isn't energy

I thought it was mentioned that WWWY was gonna take 2025 off? Or maybe I imagined that.

I think the remaining headliner options are No Doubt, Panic and Weezer. Otherwise they could go with scene adjacent bands like Deftones, Linkin Park, The Cure etc.

I think they could afford No Doubt. It's just a matter of whether or not they'd want to do it. Next year may be the year they have to start repeating names and "branching" out a bit more. The Killers would work too, actually... Though it would feel like a drop in "uniqueness."

Things open up a bit more when you dip into the sub-headliner category (Weezer, Deftones, CHVRCHES, Turnstile, Sublime, and Ke$ha all immediately come to mind as names they haven't dipped into yet that kinda fit the mold without tweaking things too much).

Depends on how Warped structures things. If they focus strictly on emo/2000s Hot Topic nostalgia? Then yeah, it'll be weird.

But with Lyman's involvement in Warped, I suspect what we'll see might be something that looks more like WWYF meets No Values. And quite a bit more younger/current acts.

    The intrusive whisper fascinates me

I could also see them doing a lineup similar to 2023, but also throwing in some older Epitaph/Fat Wreck bands like Bad Religion or Descendents

Hah! We were posting about the same time. Panic! and Linkin Park are two I hadn't thought of that could work.

I doubt the Cure would do this sort of festival, though, TBH. The money wouldn't really matter and I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be too keen on their shortened set length.

I already said my piece on moshing and stuff from the Silverstein side show. But The Devil Wears Prada on Saturday was a whole different issue…

I was in the Verizon vip viewing area (half of the front barricade like the other stages and maybe 10 ft deep) - I’m “blue shirt” as I became known to everyone around me (iykyk). I’ll speak only on the crowd surfers.

The crowd surfers on the GA side were kicking and flailing and had horrible surfing etiquette. But then you had the surfers on the vip carve out side… I don’t think they realized the vip area was there and, more importantly, that it wasn’t full/packed by any means. The back barricade between ga and vip had at least a 1-2ft gap of empty space to where people were standing, PLUS there were metal ledges where security would normally stand on. Basically it was a death trap. And guess what? ZERO SECURITY WATCHING IT.

So I’m in the back center corner and we’re all watching the show, and out of nowhere a surfer barrels over the barricade and the guy in front of me just barely tries to catch him in time and they both fall down. The surfer then gets into the guys face and yelling that he could’ve broken his neck and they get pulled apart and he keeps yelling so I step in between and repeatedly scream that “no one was there” until others dragged him away and held me back. Literally seconds away from coming to blows. Still no security.

So now I’m basically acting as security (and no longer able to watch the set) - I’m warning people on the ga side of the barricade if a surfer is coming, redirecting surfers to the dense ga side, and straight up shutting down a few trying jump up close to the barricade. A couple of women decided to surf and there was nothing I could do but have them literally fall into my arms and carry them away to avoid smashing onto the floor or metal ledges. 1-2 other people would try to help me, but I essentially became responsible for the safety of these people.

A security guy finally wandered over towards the end of the set, but still was doing pretty much jack shit and at that point I was in pain so I had to step aside. Many people thanked me and offering me things like water and bracelets and I turned it all down because I wasn’t doing it for me.

But it was a really shitty situation and it put a random guy (me) as the only thing stopping people from getting seriously injured.

The admin on the FB group said WWWY didn’t seem likely but could still happen depending on revenue (which I’m sure they had no issue with). He also said it would probably be one day, which I can see happening since Sunday didn’t sell out. I have to imagine that Warped will indeed be different enough to avoid overlap but I don’t know anything. Guess we’ll find out soon.
