And Pierce the Veil is still a bigger band. They just signed with Tom DeLonge's manager, are off a giant blink tour and have some small arena shows of their own coming up. They're huge.
As far as swapping stages goes… MCS, NFG, BLG were all mainstage in prior years and are now sidestage. For the inverse: Simple Plan & Neck Deep were sidestage and are now mainstage.
Putting the 2 indie/alt rock bands (Pretty Girls Make Graves / Nada Surf) at the same time is a big fuck you to that fanbase.
Also going to be a huge PITA to know all the albums and know what's front or back loaded. I don't know a lot of these by heart so now I feel like I gotta see if the songs I want are at the beginning or end of each album. Either way, I can ultimately live with this (as if we have a choice despite all our complaints). I just color coded the schedule along with my 2 friends I'm going with so we can see where we're gonna be at. This is how we're going to handle it. Obviously, running back and forth between main and side stages may not be all possible but it was okay in the past. I can move fast.
If BLG was swapped in for AAR’s original timeslot, Rejects would have been on a sidestage playing directly when A Day To Remember was on and wrapping up right as Fall Out Boy starts.
Perhaps. Not the biggest fan of the SWS record though plus while I could live without FOB I need a prime spot for MCR haha.
How long are set changes on the three smaller stages? I'm assuming they must rotate, right? (Sorry if this was already discussed. I forget from last year!)
Since Dan from FYS has been playing guitar with them and they're on earlier in the day, you're probably spot on.
Changeover was about 5 minutes and a turntable setup on stage to rotate around; as one band was playing, they're setting up the next behind them. One thing last year was that not everyone used their full slot (notably Gym Class Heroes who I think played four songs) so there might have been a little more time between some acts but usually as the stage rotates, they start playing.
I get one is more nostalgic to some of us, but Pierce the veil continues to pull huge crowds. Way more popular than NFG currently and there isn't even an argument to be had about it. Plus the prior years, they had MASSIVE crowds and have moved up stages and time progressively. I expect PTV to yet again be one of the most packed crowds of the day.
Wow The Paradox getting added is such a crazy opportunity for them. They're that band who sadly went viral this summer when people left a bunch of racist comments on their IG.
Also just noticing that The Distillers are no longer on the lineup. That's a bummer. The two biggest fuck ups are putting Coheed on in the daylight, and screwing Pretty Girls Make Graves over with that slot against MCR.
Ugh I’m reconsidering now. With AAR getting cut and LS Dunes playing at 11am there’s only 3 acts I want to see now. Jimmy Eat World, Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance. If MCR had signs of life I’d 100% have cancelled by now
I just figured since they’re doing album plays, NFG’s album feels bigger than PTV’s but it does make a lot of sense to have NFG on a later slot on the side stage than an earlier on main given the limitations of needing Dan to play guitar.
LS Dunes to Cartel, Chroma is such a powerhouse of an album and they still sound pristine all these years later Coheed and Cambria seems absolutely necessary to me, their live show is always HUGE and an experience The Starting Line are killin it currently, I just saw them a few months back and they sound at the top of their game and Kenny is such a positive and enjoyable frontman Motion City Soundtrack, a landmark of an album and always a good show dinner Jimmy Eat World Fall Out Boy MCR
