There was definitely demand with day 1 selling out within like 30 mins but they overshot it with thinking it was enough for a second day
I'm sure day #2 is doing and will do just fine. It may not ever sell out, but I'm sure the place will be packed. It's weird how people perceive a lack of "instant sellout," or tickets moving slower than expected, to be a failure.
After Day 1 sold out they had you sign up for potential day 2. I don’t think they would go through with it if enough people didn’t sign up.
it is also much cheaper to run a 2nd day with everything already set up and same bands in town already regardless
Yeah exactly. Nobody except employees even have info on how well it's selling or where the break even point is.
Day 2 is also still moving at a decent speed all things considered. I’m sure we will be entering tier 4 sooner than later and the weekend will all be sold Out week of. It’s a big trip for many so people are just trying to figure out logistics
Genuine question of curiosity for those who attend this and, in general, attend festivals in SoCal/Vegas and surrounding areas. As someone born and bred in the East Coast, if I go to a festival and it's 90 degrees out, the lowest the temperature usually possibly gets at night is like 78-82. How do y'all deal with the extreme temperature drops when it goes from like....95 to 62 or whatever. Sweatshirt wrapped around waist during the day? Clothes in locker? Always wondered how people at Coachella deal with it.
My wife usually packs a hoodie and leggings in her bag/backpack. I normally stay warm for the most part so I won’t pack anything.
I always take what I call a "track bag" basically this exact bag. Hoodie, water bottle, wallet, sunscreen whatever.
The first year it wasn’t hot at all and quite nice during the day due to the wind so I wore a hoodie all day and was set for the night. last year it was pretty hot and I think I brought a hoodie to stuff in a locker but don’t think it got that cold to be honest.
Though the first year you could tell how miserable people were at night because they dressed for fashion over function and had to be freezing lol
That seems like the best move. I imagine you keep your phone in your pocket though since, these days, music festivals also function as open season for smartphone thieves.
I can't imagine them lowering the price and encouraging people in the future to wait, discouraging early sales. This will be crazy profitable anyway. Would love to see P!ATD. Never did get that chance. God, them playing their debut album at WWWY24 would have been an instant sell for me. As it is, I'm planning a vegas trip around that time, and I'll get tickets to day 2 for around $100 if they drop that low (which I could see happening since day 2 didn't even sell out). I remember reading that basically all the band members except Jesse turned it down. I think they pissed people off with the three pricing tiers after announcing "no b.s., no fee" ticket sales. Especially since it was completely random which tier you got. Some people ended up getting cheaper tiers later in the presale than others who got in right away. WWWY22 I paid $344.39/ticket with fees WWWY23 I paid $363.2/ticket with fees WWWY24 tickets are currently $405/ticket with fees Especially since a lot of these bands are repeats from previous events, I think there's just not as much demand. That being said, there's enough here to sell me on tickets for < $200 off secondhand market.
Well the first two years were instant sellout for all 3 days, and this one isn't selling out months later for 2 days. So by comparison, that's a failure. I'm sure it'll still be super successful financially, but it's not unreasonable to think that this year's fest is less popular than the last two.
The first year was a disaster and it was FREEZING post dark, but it was windy all day and got legit cold and i didnt prepare. Ive done vegas about 8 times the same time of year, and even at midnight its short sleeves weather for me but im also a casino guy and only ducking in and out. Cant remember getting cold at fest 2nd year. You can take in a good sized clear back pack for a flannel or sweater as well.
Make sure to check bag requirements too. Some festivals, especially major ones, are requiring only clear, see-through plastic backpacks/cinch bags.
I had this reality check when I went to Life is Beautiful in 2017. On day two it was 80 degrees during the day and then by the time Muse came on around midnight it had dropped to 48 degrees. I had been carrying around a hoodie all day but it barely helped.
I know it's cliche, but the heat & cold with low humidity really is so much different than east coast humid hot. I rock a long sleeve t-shirt all day for sun protection & to stay warmer later. But if it's gonna be less than like 50ish, I'll bring a hoodie too
at Coachella it’s pretty common to see people wrapped in those reflective FEMA blankets later in the night.
