my guess is that for them specifically, it'll be a "best-of" the two albums that they can fit in the set time. I don't think it's realistic for anyone to expect an actual full album from them at a festival like this.
A lot of bands on here I've already seen do those album plays (Armor, Starting Line, NFG, Thursday, MCS) and a lot of bands that I'd actually prefer to see a greatest hits set instead. I'm especially looking at The Maine, All American Rejects and Dashboard. I'm a huge Maine and Dashboard fan, but those albums are so far from their best. And AAR I would've thought would play Move Along, as it was their biggest album with their biggest hits.
Someone feel free to correct me if I am wrong but The lack of any representation on the lineup, especially in regards to non-male bands and POCs, is the most glaring out of all the years. At least in years prior they had a few bands with POCs/ non-male bands…now it’s extremely minimal or none at all
Why did you spoiler that ha? It'll very from person to person on how much this is even noticed / cared about. To be honest, for me, it's not even a consideration on if I'll spend the $300 or not. Just give me a good lineup of music that I want to see live and I'll be there (mission achieved).
Likelihood of the second date having the bands play a different album from their catalogue? Next year being 20 years for Three Cheers & Catalyst make me feel like they’re gonna pull out different songs on the second date (if they add it)
I tend to notice and care more for yearly events that aren't structured around anything specific (shaky knees being my other yearly fest). WWWY is a nostalgia driven event, so they only need to nail the time period and my tastes to get my money. I can't tell you of any female fronted / POC fronted bands that I listened to back then anyway (or even ignored), so anyone added in that regard wouldn't be a plus for me. To be real, it was a very white male dominated space. It just is what it is in that regard. I'm not going to feel guilty or wish they shoe horned in some diversity. Totally fine with them just booking what sells (and for me to be wrong if this doesn't sell for that reason but I doubt that).
Oh this was absolutely the first thing I thought when I saw the lineup. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think there's only 3 female fronted acts on here? And I think only a handful of POC. I can rattle of plenty of female acts that would've fit perfectly on here too. Tegan & Sara, Meg & Dia, Avril, Hey Monday, Taylor Acorn, Against Me, Eisley, The Donnas (I know a long shot), Rilo Kiley (I know an even bigger longshot), We Are the In Crowd to name a few.
Meh on next years lineup. Ive seen simple plan, underoath, the used, story of the year, Hawthorne heights, mayday parade, silverstein, new found glory, jimmy eat world, august burns red, and senses fail albums in full already. Only ones I’d care about would be chiodos and atreyu if it’s with Alex
I wonder what anberlin is gonna do since Stephen is leaving/taking a hiatus and being replaced by matty from Memphis may fire on vocals for touring
I get that, but that makes their image even more annoying. the back of a CD case doesn't look like that haha. This is what it should look like:
Yeah. Taxes and shipping are factor in at check out. Still comes out to close to $400. I think sick new world was between $380-$400 after all that for tier one
That's the issue with leaning into nostalgia for an era where representation was pretty terrible. I don't know that I'm willing to let that be an excuse because this just straight-up feels like there was zero thought or effort put into it. ...And with pockets like LiveNation's I'm sure they could have sorted something out to make it happen. Whether it be not having all artists do an album (but maybe an "early years" set) or having younger artists covering "legacy" albums. Other festivals could be doing better (e.g., Riot) but it at least feels like they try every year. This just feels like it wasn't even a thought.
I use the MgM app but vegas.com/hotels also has good deals and lays out the prices of the various hotels. Lots of options under $200 a night, and several under $100 (which is what I do - I stayed at the Excalibur the last 2 years and despite being a low tier hotel, I (or my friends) had no cleanliness issues and I like that end of the strip as well).
ooooh I see what you are saying, yes you are right! I was focused on what side the black bar was on without realizing there is no black bar on the BACK ha
