As someone who is still kinda a fan of 30STM, amazing how actively BAD they are live. Must be brutal to sit through.
Its....its great. Expensive. $40 admission. Drinks are a fortune but man....the dj during commercials is playing pop punk, pool feels great, and such a nice difference from yesterday haha.
The 30stm hate is surprising, someone explain what I’m missing. I don’t know much of the band, but in terms of just sitting through a musical act with friends and beer, I wasn’t mad at it. It seemed like a spectacle (especially Jared’s outfit!!) and I thought it fit.
the notion is that they just aren’t good live and Jared has a god complex and sort of has a cult? Has many in his fan base treat the band like a cult?
They have these fan experiences that started with Mars Camp, which where like a glamping experience with private themed concerts (like neon night, where everybody use neon colors) and activites with band members like cooking and basketball. Then they did Mars Island, and it seems there was an activity where everybody was dressed in white, and with Jared Leto's Jesus-like image, it started the rumour it was a cult more than a concert experience But then, they had this image on a 2010 music video, which definetly doesnt help with the rumours lol
The blink to green day t-shirt ratio was definitely like 3:1. Including other bands! What a fun experience! It’s been a long time since we’ve been to a music festival and had a blast.
A Beautiful Lie was a pretty good to great album that then spiraled into a lot of failed attempts to recreate it and weirdness, let alone Leto’s faults.
Agreed 100% on that. The subsequent albums were kind of corny and grandiose. The only thing I like about them is that they do have a fan base that they captivate.
There’s a lot of things wrong with Jared Leto but that band is not running a cult any more than Bayside is
Okay fine let's talk 30stm I was anticipating the douchiest performance ever and wow.... he delivered lol I'll be fair. Jared is definitely a showman. He is tryinggggggg (to make his crappy music better than it is)....and I appreciate that. He played some new pop song they're releasing and I thought it was a joke lol
30STM was so cringy lastnight haha. Being that far in the back, when he’d tell the crowd to scream it just sounded silent and it was hilarious/kinda sad.
Haha I'm glad I saw it. I went to good Charlotte and camped for offspring so I had to watch 30stm.... I'm happy I did. Cringe level almost impossible to replicate. I've never seen them live so a good excuse for some lols
If anyone is out here in Vegas still, I’d highly recommend going to the punk rock museum. I spent a couple hours there today and it was a blast. You can go into Green Day’s first tour van, play Fat Mike’s bass, lots of cool shit.
Yeah? Idk. We went Friday night and thought it was "okay". Rum and coke in a Pringle can is funny though.
Gettttt the fuck up! Put your fist in the air and let's gooooooo... (Punk singers are essentially motivational speakers?)
I say this as someone who was still casually interested in 30STM’s set due to nostalgia for the first three albums… very mediocre. Tim from Rise Against’s “guest vocals” during This Is War were literally him fully singing the song while Jared mostly stood around and acted as hype man lol was very strange when he was by far the highlight of another band’s set vocally.
I saw 30STM way back at Taste of Chaos and they were horrible. Jared didn’t sing a single word of any of the choruses and just stepped away from the mic and expected the crowd to sing them all lol
I unfortunately had to sit through 30STM to get a good spot for Blink. I also noticed that the crowd was incredibly mild, and I literally laughed out loud when he asked the crowd to sing and it stayed quiet. Also, most of their songs were so generic that couldn’t tell when they were playing a song and when they were just doing some call and response thing with the crowd.
Wtf was that new pop song he played??? No joke I legit thought he was doing a bit and trying to be funny
