I know this weekend will probably be different than last due to the cancellation, but is there a chance of any popups on friday?
Technically it's Death Cab and Underoath for Avril and Wolf Alice as they are going back the the UK. I really wished I could had seen Wolf Alice on this run, Blue Weekend is an amazing album.
Avril was a ton of fun. Every song was a banger. Crowd was so into it. I wasn't familiar with her Lyme disease issues and that it effects her energy levels but she seemed like she was having a good time up there. She might have lip synched a lot but who cares the performance was great. Glad I got to see her.
Biggest surprise for me was Mom Jeans. We ended up there because of a schedule mix up and stayed the entire time. Just great energy all around from the band and the crowd. I love how appreciative all the artists were of the crews, staff, and everyone else helping. I wish more people would just throw away their trash but hey
avril was a car crash. clearly having a lot of help in the vocal department. looked annoyed and disinterested. I know she said she was having audio issues with her monitors but the whole thing was just a little cringe.
I saw Avril at Firefly and saw the last 3 songs after AAR on Sunday and thought every second of it was a mess. I keep seeing so many people online saying their weekend highlight was her bringing up ATL to do all the small things and like I just don’t know what I’m missing.
The worst part about not being able to go to this on Saturday was the fact that we didn’t get to have a Chorus meet up.
I'm down to meet up with anyone going next Saturday this is my schedule 12:00-12:30 The Ready Set - CHECKER (Love Like Woe) 12:15-12:45 The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus - STRIPE 12:45-1:15 Hawthorne Heights - CHECKER 1:00-1:20 Acceptance - STRIPE 1:20-1:25 Mayday Parade - BLACK (Kids In Love) 1:25-1:30 Acceptance - STRIPE (lol like this is going to happen) 1:30-1:45 Story of the Year - CHECKER alt 1:35-1:45 We the Kings - NEON 1:50-2:20 Boys Like Girls - PINK 2:20-2:30 The Starting Line - CHECKER 2:30-3:00 Anberlin - STRIPE 4:10-4:50 The Used - PINK 4:50-5:10 Silverstein - STRIPE 5:15-5:45 The Maine - CHECKER 5:45-6:10 Jimmy Eat World - PINK 6:10-6:50 Taking Back Sunday - BLACK 7:30-8 The All American Rejects - CHECKER 8:15-8:55 Bright Eyes - PINK 9:40-10:40 Paramore - PINK 10:40-end My Chemical Romance - BLACK wish me luck lol, the first three hours will be wild if anyone has tips on who to see between Hawthorne Heights, Acceptance, and Story of the Year that'd be nice. I've never seen any and am probably never going to see any of them again
After being home for a sleep (and now back at work :( ) I'm still riding the high, and for me and my group it was an absolutely massive success, but it's going to change person by person. I've seen a lot of complaints I didn't see, but can't argue their validity just because I didn't have those same issues. For next year, the merch line needs to be in a different spot and somehow be made more accessible (length of queue), the screens need to be higher (which I know they will be if it's not windy again - they probably will be next week), and I'd probably rethink the GA pit area, and how the entry was advertised. I'm sure there is so much more going on behind the scenes now about how to make these events safer in regards to crowd crush, so I'll chalk the VIP area and the line for the GA pit up to mitigating those issues rather than poor planning or a cash grab. I'm glad I left early this year and got on the monorail to get to the other end of the strip before the rush, but I'll deal with the 3 hour uber waits and/or long walk after the show next year to see Blink. MCR was a headliner I was okay ducking out of, but next year, I'll tough out the crowds as I have never seen Blink before and a fest will be a much better experience for me than the local arena show. I hope everyone going next week has a positive experience as well.
Also, here were all the bands I was able to catch mostly full sets of: Saosin Hawthorne Heights Story of The Years The Startling Line Glassjaw Senses Fail Silverstein Jimmy Eat World A Day To Remember Ice Nine Kills Bring Me the Horizon Thursday Partial sets while meandering between stages: All American Rejects, Anberlin, Neck Deep, The Used, Four Year Strong, Bright Eyes, Paramore, Sleeping with Sirens EDIT: Forgot taking back sunday, saw a good bit of their set
My guess is Green Day will take Paramore spot and Blink will be the final headliner (assuming it's organized similarly) but if I'm wrong on that, and it's Green Day top spot, then maybe I would duck early lol. But I have a whole year to decide that :) EDIT: Looking at poster, and mirroring 2022, it would be Green Day as top.
