If the crowd was dead, i think it’s a combo of how long it was if you lined up for doors, the fact that it was exhaustingly difficult to get from stage to stage, every line being insanely long, and the weird ass GA pit entrance. After Taking Back Sunday it was fucking stampede to get into the pit through a tiny little gate that they were restricting access to, and eventually closed off for the night. So from ADTR on, if you wanted to be in the pit for Paramore or MCR you were stuck there or not getting back. Which meant no going to get water or anything. The organization of that is the one point I’m truly critical of that just seemed horrendously stupid. If anyone had fallen down trying to get into the pit area as ADTR was starting, I have no doubt in my mind they would have gotten trampled. It was straight mob mentality.
Here's a fun game/question: Without repeats, who's left for 2024? Potential headliners: Fall Out Boy Panic! Twenty One Pilots Weezer Undercard: Coheed Sugarcult Cartel Midtown Chiodos or DRUGS From First to Last Cobra Starship Rancid Rufio The Cab A Rocket to the Moon The Summer Set American Hi-Fi Every Avenue Jack's Mannequin Alexisonfire Underoath Forever the Sickest Kids Mest Breathe Carolina Never Shout Never Hit the Lights The Spill Canvas Straylight Run Hot Rod Circuit The Matches Cute Is What We Aim For Against Me!
Some actual answers: Further Seems Forever A Day At the Fair (way too small to matter for a fest like this, but that would get me to travel) Forgive Durden Steel Train (probably not happening, but Bleachers totally could)
Fallout Boy panic Weezer Sugarcult Jacks mannequin The early November The distillers Nofx Rancid Head automatica The transplants Coheed and Cambria From first to last Against me Matchbook romance Flogging Molly Underoath Fun. Willow Pinkshift LOLO Real Friends Moneen Funeral for a friend Straylight run Midtown Circa Survive Anti flag Descendants Refused At the drive in
There are definitely diminishing returns on the nostalgia factor here, but bear with me: Top Bill Fall Out Boy Panic! At The Disco Twenty One Pilots Weezer Demi Lovato Evanescence Phoebe Bridgers Undercard Papa Roach Beartooth YUNGBLUD Halestorm Chase Atlantic Architects ONE OK ROCK Angels & Airwaves The Regrettes Memphis May Fire Maggie Lindemann Enter Shikari Don Broco Real Friends Lights Stand Atlantic Pale Waves The Dangerous Summer Grayscale Citizen As It Is Point North Hot Milk Like Pacific LOLO
Im surprised Machine Gun Kelly was not in 2022 nor 2023, I can see him headlining this (not that I want to but still). Also surprised Real Friends wasnt not in the lineup, so probs they will be if there is 2024
Here's my random list of those that could have fit on this or next year's pretty easily Man Overboard Modern Baseball (please) Allister The White Tie Affair Secondhand Serenade Reel Big Fish Owl City LMFAO ISMFOF Hot Chelle Rae
Some more just came to mind that I dont think have been mentioned yet: Death Cab for Cutie Minus the Bear Alexisonfire Turnstile City and Colour The Honorary Title Spitalfield Mae Patent Pending Rufio Hidden in Plainview Hit the Lights The Spill Canvas Cute is What We Aim For Hey Monday Meg and Dia Explosions in the Sky The Sleeping The Rocket Summer The Sounds From Autumn to Ashes Poison the Well Every Time I Die Envy on the Coast Cartel Valencia Andrew WK Bad Religion The Bouncing Souls Billy Talent Metro Station The Get Up Kids The list could honestly go on and on and have a few more years without repeats. I think the big headliners left are Fall Out Boy, Panic at the Disco, Evanescence and Weezer, with solid second line acts like Death Cab, Coheed, Phoebe Bridgers, Underoath, At the Drive In and Fun. After that point I think they might start plucking more modern acts like (sigh) Machine Gun Kelly, The 1975 and Twenty One Pilots to headline.
Forrest did a DJ set in Vegas on Saturday night. I didn’t make it to that one though. I went to the Mark Rose one instead.
My dream bands for 2024, some were mentioned and some might not be a fit: At The Drive-In (or at least Sparta) The Get Up Kids Minus The Bear The Promise Ring (or Maritime) American Football (or Owen) Dance Gavin Dance (with Kurt Travis) Rainer Maria The Spill Canvas City and Colour Eisley Copeland The Forecast Secret Lives Of The Freemasons HRVRD Kaddisfly Company Of Thieves Alien Ant Farm
I’m wondering if they know when to cut their losses. Maybe one more year with FOB and Panic but then I can see it ending.if they do that I wouldn’t be surprised to see some repeat bands from this year.
Yeah, I think that’s my general feel too. If they can get Panic headlining a third year, it definitely makes sense. But a fourth would either be recycling or weak imo. The scale of the event as-is, is just so massive. The second year certainly has had far less buzz around it already, naturally.
