I had no signal all day once people started pouring in. Highlights for me (of many) were Boys Like Girls announcing a new album and performing a (pretty good) new song, The Wonder Years crowd holding it down in Passing Through a Screen Door while the band dealt with sound issues, and Paramore finally, FINALLY performing All I Wanted and Hayley absolutely killing it. Also really appreciated Hayley's words about the origins of emo and what that means for making the scene a safer space today. One note for people going in the future: the rideshare area made no sense (to me) and I had a really hard time getting a Lyft home, partially due to signal issues and partially due to Uber's servers buckling under all the requests. I wish I had a hotel nearby instead (and a phone charger).
BMTH were my band of the day in a surprising move. Oli has drastically improved also ADTR starting with Downfall gave me a cardiac arrest MCR in old guy Three Cheers era outfits was just the perfect end with a metric fuck ton of fireworks
Yea, i maybe should have tried that instead of assuming it would have been full of campers for later. I felt extremely crowded during BMTH so thats a bummer if the GA pit was open but oh well. I thought their (BMTH) set was okay but its so polished and over produced that it lacked any kind of true live feel. Either way, i had an amazing day with very little actual gripes.
Yeah only complaints are typical festival shit. It did feel a little over sold but honestly, just a great day.
With the Saturday cancellation I think that was probably inevitable too. The amount of people that went Sunday instead seems to be not insignificant..
Everyone around me could not stop commenting on how fucked up Connor was. That was terrible. Avril and Pierce the Veil KILLED it. So much fun. And I finally got to see my favorite MCR song live, Deathwish. tbh tho, I think the surprise of the day for me was Boys Like Girls. Love Drunk and Great Escape went OFF, and the crowd reaction was really solid. Love em but never caught em back in the day. Plus they played a new song and announced a new album so that’s cool.
Seems like it went pretty well yesterday and people got what they wanted! Awesome. Only downside seemed to be that Adam’s vocals for TBS were somehow even worse than ever
There's a great video of Hayley talking about the misogyny/racism/homophobia in this scene in between songs I saw on TikTok.
I didn't have VIP but it looked easy. Had their own entrances to areas. Just flashed the wristband to get in I'm sure.
This is funny: The boys wore their Revenge era costumes (and wigs!) but had old people makeup/prosthetics on. Gerard acted like a caricature of his 2000s self, then pretended to be senile and called the city Utah (lol). They only played their old radio hits. After Black Parade a bunch of casuals walked out, and then they ended with Vampire Money, where vampire themed money shot out into a mostly dead crowd. Then there were fireworks lol. Also their merch were tshirts that said MERCH.
