Within the next few weeks: Inter Arma/Withered/Immortal Bird - July 13th Carcass/Deafheaven - July 16th Castle Freak and three local grindcore bands - July 18th I also currently have tickets for Bongripper, Cobalt, and Bear vs. Shark in the coming months. I'm too lazy to really plan anything beyond that. Haha.
I saw they were $64 but I'm currently in the process of moving and I'm super cheap at the moment haha. Hoping they drop to about 40 or so. The three day pass option is a pretty good price too.
Just bought ticktes for T.S.O.L and Adolescents, first week in August back home in Germany and Brian Fallon and Frank Turner in Dublin later this year.
thought about the deafheaven show after pitchfork but i don't think we'd get there in time to see them
I'm mainly going to see Carcass and didn't want to shell out the money for Open Air with that dumpster fire of a lineup. Deafheaven is a nice plus, but I know their set will probably be light to nonexistent with the material from them that I like (half of Sunbather and Roads to Judah). New Bermuda didn't do too much for me.
7/9-Save Face/A Will Away 7/10-The Hotelier 7/12-He Is Legend 7/14-Pete Mako/As We Once Were/Conway 7/15-Letlive. 7/17-Brand New 7/18-APMAs 7/19-Warped Tour-Indy 7/21-Warped Tour-Cincy 7/22-Hawthorne Heights 7/29-My Heart My Anchor
Maybe! I was stage left the whole night underneath the hanging speakers. I wanted to be up close, but didn't feel like getting shoved around the whole night. You wouldn't have believed that Poison the Well took the better part of a decade off. They absolutely killed it.

Still have to make the tough choice. Do I go see FIDLAR or see Yellowcard (who I just did see at Warped) on their last tour. Leaning way more towards Pennywise over Foreigner even tho Foreigner would be free. These next 3 shows is a weird mix. GNR/Wolfmother, Journey/The Doobie Brothers and Hawthorne Heights in 3 straight days. I love it!
Stage left? ....huh, maybe! I was near the top of the stairs to the far side of the bar area. If you saw/spoke to a chubby dude with a crew cut and a suit jacket chances are it was me! I'll be honest, I was a little nervous about the show because I'm not super familiar with their material, just a few songs - songs I nevertheless adore. I find it can sometimes be a little weird when you're seeing a band whose songs you mostly don't know, but you're right about them - they fucking ripped it! I think I still hate the Roxy as a venue though. I saw The World is a Beautiful Place there back in November and didn't have a great time. I had a headache, the bouncer was a dick, and the band themselves just didn't sound that good. I though maybe I had been to tough on the venue in hindsight, and then I stepped in for the PTW show and remembered how cramped it was and immediately was like 'Nope, fuck this, shoulda gotten Glass House tickets instead!'
I mean, is it really a contest between a band that will almost certainly tour again and a band that's saying farewell? (At least, for now...)
With the glut of tour announcements today, I'm really bummed I'm gonna miss Julien Baker. I'm doing a west coast road trip in August, and both times we're gonna be on opposite ends!
I am a bigger fan of FIDLAR. It wasn't even an issue until I saw Yellowcard at Warped, they just sounded so solid. Got to make a decision quick because I am sure YC Is going to sell out pretty quick.
I mean look, I get what you're saying, but if you've got even a mild interest in seeing them on a farewell tour then you gotta go! Having said that, you might have an easier time with tickets than you might think. I'm seeing them twice this tour, and on their LA date they're playing Ocean Avenue front to back, so of course I got tickets the second they became available for fear of them selling out. Then I checked again a few days later: they were still selling tickets. On the other hand: Simple Plan at the Troubadour. Tickets on sale @ 10am. I checked at 10:07. Sold out.
That's funny you mention the Glasshouse, because in my experience the security people at the Glasshouse are total duches. I love the Roxy for its location and the bands the venues get. I live in West LA, and it's only a 20 minute drive/Lyft through mostly neighborhoods to get to the venue. It's way too easy for me to not go to shows there. I get you about it being cramped. It's especially worse at hardcore shows. As soon as people start hardcore dancing the pit opens up much larger than it needs to be (so people aren't smacked or kicked in the face), and those on the outside get squished. My favorite shows at the Roxy have been punk shows where everyone can go in the pit and know you'll walk out totally fine (like Rancid a few months back) or when the venue isn't sold out (like when I saw Hidden in Plain View or I Am the Avalanche there). I picked my spot up front on the side because I knew that I wanted to be close, but didn't feel like dealing with crowd surfers. The sound blew standing under the speakers, but I was up front and didn't have people slamming into me or falling on me.
I'm probably going to have to trim this down a bit, but I am also probably flying to Red Rocks in August so that's cool.
