I'm really envious when I see how long of lists people have! As an adult, I finally live in a city with easy access to almost all of the tours I want to see, have the disposable money to go to most if I want to, but don't really have friends with the same music tastes or time I have. So it leads me to going to a lot of shows by myself, or bribing friends to come along to something if I think it at least won't offend them or cost too much. Guess I'm just extra annoyed and contemplative about it because I have tickets to the Cancer Bats' Hail Destroyer 10 year anniversary show this weekend, and the friend I was to go with just cancelled. And I look ahead to all of the amazing shows in June, like Hop Along, The Wonder Years/Tiny Moving Parts, The Front Bottoms or Pianos Become the Teeth, and I know I don't know anyone who will be interested.
I’ve been to probably 150 shows in my life and a good 85% were alone. It sucks sometimes but I’ve always found it to be more rewarding to go even if alone, then to not go. But I feel your pain.

Don't get me wrong, I do go to plenty alone. And have met people at shows too. I guess my broader reservation is that there's realistically only so much I can justify spending on my social life, and sometimes I feel bad about then spending it on nights where I'm not actually socializing with people - when I know I'm also saying no to plans because of finances. I guess I posted that yesterday because I was really annoyed for how the friend cancelled on this week's show, seeing as we'd planned it like 4 months ago.
I was going crazy (on the inside) last week as people were loudly talking over a Kevin Devine solo set. It was a small venue and groups of people were just bantering away at the bar as he's doing this intimate acoustic performance. If you're not interested in listening to the headlining performer, take your conversation outside!...or downstairs, where they have delicious nachos.

Going to Portland for three nights next month and the Wonder Years Tour happens to be there when I’m there. But do I go see the tour 4 days prior in Anaheim now? Looking forward to June though 6/15 Pinback - Tustin, CA (maybe) 6/16 Frank Turner - Hollywood (yes) 6/17 New Found Glory - Anaheim (yes) 6/18 This Will Destroy You Young Mountain/Self Titled show (maybe)
TWDY are doing another SoCal anniversary show? Man, that makes me wish I’d double-dipped on the Seattle date for some reason. EDIT: shhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitttttttttttttt!!!!!
Saw it on Instagram this morning! Apparently the last one they’ll be doing and it’s a Tony Hawk Foundation benefit. The show was so good the first time I’d have to to catch it again. Solana Beach is somewhere I’ve never been.
