Wait does @Larry David not hear the TOOL influences in Chevelle?

 

@Colin Your Enthusiasm I hear a pretty decent amount of tool influences on La Gargola album, Larry doesn't.

would like your thoughts as well as @fenway89's

 

listening to Old Pride rn, CRAZY how Kyle has changed so much as vocalist between each record, even between Old Pride and TLLA honestly.

 

I hear Tool influence in Chevelle, and don't deny their influence. @littlejohn said that La Gargola was them playing covers of Tool songs that weren't actual Tool songs. They don't sound THAT similar.

"Ouija Board" is the only song on La Gargola where I can see his perspective

 

on that album he only said that he heard them in Track 1. while I (while obviously being hyperbolic) said that the album sounded like chevelle covered tool songs that dont exist.

and just for the record I really like that album, and I like chevelle the most when it's doing those things.

 

I'll listen to that album after i'm done with Hopesfall. But I've always heard some tool in Chevelle. Pete Loefler sounds fairly similar to Maynard with some of his inflections and stuff.

remember when people on AP HATED Touche Amore?

 

I wasn't cool enough back when the wave thing started. I didn't start listening till I saw La Dispute open for Thrice on their farewell tour. I only started to listen to Touche Amore like last year haha.

 

Dude the absolutepunk community went through a phase like around the time when Touche put out Parting The Sea where everyone talked sooooo much smack on Touche. They were so hated, and now they’re basically a staple in the scene lol

 

oh haha I see it now. I feel like such a tool for not catching that the first time.

Yeah I’m gonna say that La Gorgola has he most tool influence from all their stuff. Like it sounds like instead of being influenced Pete was trying to BE Maynard

I don't know Tool enough to be a good judge. @fenway89 was the right man for the job. Don't know how you say it in English but in French the expression is ''pour trancher le débat''
