After Appeal to Reason, each album has like 3 or 4 songs I really like and the rest seems kinda filler-ish. Their most recent one Wolves is their best since Appeal, but still not all the way there yet.

it's good. the title track especially.

I have never been too big on Gaslight, even though I enjoyed them live when I saw them (with RA and Thrice) but I've always loved their song Handwritten. I dunno if that's a staple for them or not, but it should be. I need to listen to them more.

Handwritten is by far their best stuff.

I've noticed.

It's good so far. not really paying too much attention to it though. first few tracks reminded me of happy hollow a little bit.

 

If you took the 3 or 4 best songs from every RA album after Appeal to Reason, you can make one really really good album haha

BTW @littlejohn Gang of Youths are definitely RIYL if you like Gaslight Anthem and Bruce Springsteen imo.

 

I would do anything to hear that record again for the first time. An all-time record!

I got into the Gaslight Anthem from the absolutepunk days. @Jason Tate was hyping them up a lot when The '59 Sound came out, but I was a broke college student so I couldn't afford to buy the record(and this was before streaming)

Jason would post when Amazon MP3 would have weekly specials, and a couple of weeks after this record came out it was on sale for $3.99 on Amazon MP3. I scooped it up and I've been obsessed with the record and band ever since!
